For simbots I like using names of robots and androids from mythology, literature and sci-fi movies. For each generation of simbots I use different time period in order to get the impression of timeline.
My first generation simbots (from LFT reward) are usually named after mythological BC non-bio characters (e.g. Pandora - made out of clay by Zeus; Galatea - sculpted from ivory by Pygmalion; Talos - the bronze giant).
I usually let simbots create their offspring and for the second generation I like to use names from 19th century like Olimpia (from Hoffmann's Sandmann) or Coppelia (dancing doll from ballet Coppelia).
For the next generation I use names from Karel Capek's "Rossum's Universal Robots" (1920's) - Primus, Radius, Marius, Damon, Sulla and Helena. 20th century is rich with naming ideas so I try to stick with my favourite sci-fi authors (Asimov, Dick, etc.) or cult characters from literature primarilly (Bors, Zane, Terminus and Aniel).
My game gets super buggy after three of four generations so I often skip a lot of great names and wrap things up with Roy, Pris, Rachael or Rick (Philip K. Dick's 1960's androids).
Of all the names Zane takes the cake for me. He is a novelist and a robot (by Fritz Leiber) so I make him a writer in my game and let him write a story by Roald Dahl "The Great Automatic Grammatizator" (about machine that can write prize-winning novels in record time). Than I lay back and ponder my existence... because in RL I'm a published short fiction writer.
