My game has become boring!
« on: June 18, 2012, 02:48:36 PM »
I've gotten tired of Sims 3 lately and I feel as though I've run out of creative ideas for interesting games. What's something I could do, like a specific challenge or something, to keep me playing? No legacies, please :)

I would definitely look to challenges to spark some interest again. If the current Tournament challenges do not grab you (look at the Challenge/Dynasty board), then browse all of the old events I have moved to the Graveyard board.

Yes!  As Metro said, the Challenges are very interesting, fun, and, well - challenging.  You might also take a look at the Projects in the Story Board - maybe one of the Project ideas will appeal to you.

I will echo what the last two posters have said, but also add that there are many sites that list challenges. Try looking for some and I'm certain something will appeal to you.

Have you tried playing different worlds other than Sunset Valley? Maybe you can discover the new worlds Sims 3 offers in the game besides SV. Also, what about throwing "different" looking Sims into the mix? Like Red, Blue or Green colored Sims? There's always adding some fantasy into the mix as well. Try playing Single Sims, and turn them into acrobats. What about turning them into a Vampire or building a Simbot? Some of the little weird bits, have kept me playing TS3.  :)

All the above are great suggestions.  You might also want to consider taking a short break from the game.  I do this from time to time when the thrill is gone, and sooner rather than later I find myself missing my sims and very much wanting to get back to them.  This might not be for everyone, but I do find that it helps me.

I agree completely! Also, when I feel burnt out from playing I like to find new things to create - Sims, houses, hangouts, remodels, patterns, worlds et cetera. The forum Building Contests help to keep me building new lots.  :)

If you're currently bored with playing the Sims 3,
why not make a blog or story about your sims
or do a video or movie perhaps.

World Peace.

I agree with frozenbeat.  That is what I started doing.  I think sometimes when we play for a while, it does get boring.  Start a story, take screenshots and then write one here on the forum.  It is helping me, I know.  It doesn't matter if you think you can't write, I know I can't, but it just gives you something else to do for the time being.  And yes, challenges are another way to shake it up a little. :)

I agree with all the above but I also thought I'd point out this page:
http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/362585.page - Features links to rules for a TON of Legacies and Challenges :3

Thanks for posting that, Axiom.  I do like reading different challenges, even though I don't have the time to do most of them since I work so much.

I started getting bored and realised that I've been playing nothing but other people's ideas and challenges, so I took a break to do my own thing again. A long time ago I decided to see if I could make a viable family where the father did the cooking, gardening, and fishing and the mother did the cleaning, inventing, and repairing. Then I decided not to let them get jobs but be self-employed. They had four kids, and while it was rough at times, they made it! Now they have over §1 million! The oldest daughter and son are both married and the younger two both have significant others. It is a lot of fun.

Okay, did not mean to turn that into an update on my Sims, sorry. :P

You could try creating your own challenge. When I got bored, I created a homeless legacy challenge which I'm still testing. It's a lot of fun to play your own challenge and see if your rules work.

I created my own challenge too with my Random Town Jump. It makes it more interesting for me to go to different towns and see how new townie genetics affect the family.

I feel the same way as you do. I have tried legacies and other challenges, but I get bored before the third generation :-(. Maybe I should try building instead?
