No New Recipes

My sims can only cook the defualt meals even though they have more then 5 skill point sin it and have read recipe books.

Have you got the ingedients for the other recipes in your Sims fridge. If not then go to the grocery store and buy them. Your Sim will also run out of the basics they have in the fridge such as eggs,lettuce etc. Click on the fridge then click open to see what you have inside.

Yes I have the ingredients I just don't have the option to make any other meals besides autumn salad, mac and cheese, waffles, and hot dogs.

What exactly are you doing?  Your Sim has read the recipe books, right?  Are you clicking on the refrigerator?  Exactly what shows up?  Is anything grayed out?

Also, I'm moving this to the Miscellaneous Help board.  Technical help is for problems with game mechanics, not gameplay.

This happened in one of my games once.  It was a long time ago, and I don't remember what seemed to trigger the problem, whether it was travel or a corrupted game file.  The Sim in question couldn't read certain recipes because he already knew them but couldn't prepare them for whatever reason.  I never did find a solution - I hope you'll have better luck with your game, Observer.

Do you have any kind of food, garden or store mods in you game? Sometimes if these are outdated they can cause these.

Are you trying to cook at the correct time? A lot of the recipes are only available for certain meals and will not show up as an option at other times.

I have read books for all meals of the day they just don't show up when I click the fridge. All that it shows is autumn salad, mac and cheese, hot dogs, and waffles.

do you have an oven? The cheapest stove doesn't have an oven so you won't get the option to cook anything that needs the oven.

If you click on the skill journal, how many recipes does it say they know? Does it list them all or just those few you mentioned?

If the recipes are not listed, obviously the game hasn't recognized that they have been learnt. Did you read the recipe books till the message came up saying that the Sim could now cook ..whatever. I don't suppose you still have the books in the Sim's inventory?

My sim read them and the green bar disappeared but they were still n my inventory and it gave the option to re-read them.

Do you use Mods or CC?  Recipes are one of two types of books that you should never be able to re-read.  The other being books to learn new songs for instruments.
