Well Carl, that's maybe 50 000 individuals (is that reasonable?) that now know your name and all the work you (and everybody else here for that matter) put into this. How does it feel? ;D

June just exploded with pageviews and traffic.  The Guide passed the 1,000,000 mark and the Forum passed the 500,000 mark.  That's just incredible!  I've been telling Carl since we started to just be patient, keep doing good work, and it will happen.  Sure enough, it did happen!  I'm so excited and proud!  Now to see what July brings.  :D

Yes, Pam. Content is king. We've done a good job covering most of the bases over time, with that patience you told me of, thanks to suggestions here and our own brainstorming. There are only a few things that aren't covered in the overall picture and I'm sure they'll be taken care of in due time. It's particularly exciting because the whole staff is unified in the goal and we're all working to make it even better. I look forward to posting another one in August.  8)

So you want to know why?  Other than the obvious terrific guide?  It's because of the "play nice" factor.  I think people are getting fed up with rude, aggressive, off color and vulgar comments.  This is a nice, clean, safe place to visit where even kids can poke their noses in without mom or dad getting upset.  I know it's one of the things that has kept me here.  Then of course, there are the fabulous moderators and posters and people I have come to look upon as my all over the world friends and family!  Thank you for all of those good things you guys, and for making newbs like myself feel at home, and a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!  You guys are awesome.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Thank you, Joria.  Keeping this forum clean and pleasant has been the number one priority.  I hate to see forums that spiral down into the sewer with all the hatefulness and rude behavior.  I know from my experience at JayIsGames that it's possible to have a good community who respect each other and behave politely.  Jay's site is set up differently from ours, but courtesy should be expected anywhere.  The "play nice" atmosphere brings out the best in people and we almost never have a problem with a member being rude.  It's very rare.  I'm glad to hear you think it's a good atmosphere for kids, too.  That's something we always keep in mind, and not just the kids coming, but also if their parents came to visit.  I want any visiting parents to feel comfortable about their kids coming here to visit and chat about the game.  :)

Again, thanks for the kind words.  It means the world to me and the staff.

I agree with Joria! About being rude, I always treat people the way I want to be treated. I'm a nice girl and I like being nice. I just love how friendly this place is! I was on thesims3 forum, and saw posters being downright mean to other people. I think if you can't say something nice and supportive, you shouldn't say anything at all. After all, thesims3 forum and this forum have The Sims in common, but the difference is in the people. I really enjoy my time on this forum, the other one, not so much. I just wish every forum in the world was as friendly and awesome as this one is.

Strange as it may sound, I don't. Why in the world would I say that? Well, if all the Sims 3 forums were as kick butt as this one, then players would have a much more difficult time deciding where to turn to. Differences are healthy, even if it means that some forums are clearly bottom-of-the barrel trash heaps. If those didn't exist, then we would not appreciate the great gig that we have here.

That is strange, but I see your point. Ok how about this? I wish everyone in the world was nice. That may be a weird world, but a little weirdness is good! I know not everyone can be the same and think the same, but why can't they act nice about their opinions? No one has the same ones, but if we could change how we react to people who don't think like we do, this would be a better world!

Although I agree with you with your post Esther, I personally don't think that would work. If everyone would be nice. the whole human kind would get a bit weak. I was looking for another word than 'getting a bit weak' but I could not translate something better. But I hope you do understand what I mean.

If the world is getting nicer and nicer (and eventually too nice), we will have less defence against enemies and we all became soft. You can't be alert and nice at the same time, you know.

Although you could say that when everyone is nice we don't have enemies, this is not considered as true. Too agressive will result in suicide on the long term, but so does too weak. I believe, therefore, that staying somewhere in the middle will be better.

And to drag myself back on topic, I highly agree with Joria. That is exactly the same reason I stay here (not counting in vacations). Obviously that was for me the reason to post but I just couldn't resist to go in discussion with Esther's statement. :)
