Bowser, as in Mario Bowser? lol. The dog park looks really cute. If it was real and if I had a dog, I would bring him or her there.

No, bowser because my Dad named her, and when he got her as a puppy (before I was born) she leaked everywhere like a petrol bowser... luckily after that my Mum was in charge of naming pets!

It's rather late, but a brief entry to let anyone who's interested know that I'll be updating Naga's spawner lists to include the changes and additions to the old spawners. I've added the butterflies so far, and will be adding all the rest over the next few days. Basically, as I intended from the start, I will be using as few spawners as possible whilst still making collecting easy enough.

I have determined that the only fish spawners I need are:
lake common 1
lake uncommon 1
science
graveyard
ocean common 1
ocean uncommon 1
ocean rare
plus I think trilobite, kissing gourami and seasludge have individual spawners.
That will cover all the fish.

So far all I can tell with the butterfly spawners is that I may not need Medium 2, Monarch, Silver, Zebra and Epic. It all depends on what minor pets spawn from these spawners as to whether I need to keep them. I'm going away for the weekend, but when I come back will spend a solid few days testing to find out what I can cull to keep spawners to a playable minimum - probably only one of each should do.

Well after a weekend visiting family, I've had little time to do much, but I wanted to start getting my rabbithole lots decorated. So here's Crestview Grammar (and stadium) pending a recolour in photoshop:

There's a LLAMA and a hitching post around the side. I haven't placed them on every lot, but I've tried to space them evenly so that there is always one nearby. I noticed that not many (if any) of the EA schools have parking - now I know most kids catch the bus, but seriously, what school doesn't have, or at least need, tonnes of parking?? And, should your sim have a hankering to play hopscotch with someone, they can (mine seem to wish for that all the time).

I also finished the cat jungle - though I don't think it's especially creative. I feel like it's the same-old, same-old. If something comes to me later, I'll jooj it up bit.

My attempt at a fish pond - I didn't paint right to the edges, because I used the paint to help define the edges of my fish shape :)

Because I wanted to put a spawner in the pond, I had to do the research on the spawners again to see what had changed since last time. I started that before I left for the weekend, and finished that when I came back, too. I have placed all of the rocks, gems and metals. I looked each of them up in the game code, and I think I have accounted for enough of each - though later testing will tell for sure. I will have:

Metals:
1 x iron
1 x silver
1x gold
1 x plutonium (the spawner spawns the following: silver 1/10; gold 1/10; palladium 7/10; plutonium 1/10; thus negating the need for an additional palladium spawner)
1 x carbon steel (this spawner also spawns gold, palladium, plutonium and tungsten carbide)

Gems:
1 x epic
1 x high
1 x low3
1 x low 5
1 x med 1
1 x med 2
1 x smithsonite
1 x vampire's eye

I've had to use pretty much all the gem spawners to get a good coverage. There is some overlap, but not enough to eliminate enough spawners to make a difference. Additionally, some gems are used in alchemy, so it is handy to have a couple of extra chances to spawn those particular types.

Meteors:
1 x Huge (has the chance to spawn small 10/101; medium 90/101; huge 1/101)
1 x Small - spawns only small

Since there is only a minute chance to spawn a huge meteor, and that spawner covers medium quite well, I should only need the 2 spawners to cover the minimum requirement for meteors. It will make collecting slow, but it keeps with my initial goal to use minimum spawners for faster loading.

Butterflies:
2 x low 1 (fireflies from this spawner are used in alchemy)
1 x low 2
2 x med 1 (ditto)
2 x high 1 (ditto again)
1 x high 2
1 x kite

Bugs:

1 x cockroaches
1 x rhino beetle spawner
1 x stag bettle spawner (also spawns japanse beetles)
1 x spotted bettles (also ladybugs)
1 x trilobite (also water beetles)
1 x rainbow beetle (also light beetles)
1 x termite
1 x spider

1 x will o the wisp

I've placed some of the insect spawners, but will place the rest once I'm done building. Some will go on other lots, the rest will go in-world.

Today I built the fire station. I googled images of fire stations to help give me a feel for what I wanted it to look like - not the structure exactly, just a style. I mostly stuck with an idea that built in my head though.

I've since fixed a few things, like a forgotten set of stairs! Oops! Added a few things out the back so it's not so empty - a couple of plants, another drainpipe and grate, and rearranged the male bathroom upstairs so the shower didn't overlap the window. Taking screenshots sure helps in identifying minor issues.

Yes, I stayed up to the wee hours of the morning last night working on my fire station. That is why I have two posts for today's date. Anyway, lucky for me the kiddiwinks slept in, and hubby decided that he'd leave his car at work when he picked up the work car to go away, so I didn't have to drop him off. I'm starting to run a little dry on ideas, but I really want to keep up my momentum and get my world finished. I don't want to rush it - I never had plans to finish it by a set date, but I really really want to play it! So, once again relying on google images to help the idea in my head take a shape, I looked up laundromats, and this is what I've come up with;

Well, the show must go on! Onto the coffee house. I will be using the diner because Flying V's coffehouse rabbithole does not register on the camera as a diner. This also means I will have to resize that lot a bit to fit the stage in.

My town is really starting to fill out now. I'm not 100% sure on my diner yet, but it'll do for the time-being. I might try and recolour that in photoshop too, and make the red bits green.

The diner looks awesome. I suggest maybe adding some empty viewing squares in the space in front of the stage if there is enough room. I love how the laundromat has one of the playground equipment things. (Forgot the name)

I figured lots of places have fenced off areas for kids to play while their parents are occupied with other things - shopping, coffee etc. I may yet blend the two lots together better so that it 'shares' the play area with the diner - like a McD's play area - only safer and cleaner :D I wanted the laundromat to have snack machines and a skill tester too. I think there is a store content skill tester? I may include that in my store-version upload.

Yes, a couple more viewing squares couldn't hurt - do they affect performance?

I'm pretty sure they don't but then more Sims can watch the performance.

I really like the sleek feel of all your community lots. Recoloring the diner in green or even blue would tie it more together with the color theme you seem to be using.

I just have a question about combined rabbit holes. There seem to be a bug at the moment where combined rabbit holes won't let you complete opportunities, are there room enough in your world to place alternative lots if that should keep going on?

There should be room for placing individual rabbitholes, but it would likely be at the expense of other lot-types, such as the bigshow venue. I have tried to include a range of different sized lots, but in a world this small there is only one 60x60 lot - and that is the dynasty lot. There are a couple of 40x40 lots though. I'm hoping the opportunities bug gets fixed in a patch, too, because combined rabbitholes help reduce the spread of all the many different types of community lots.

I hope they fix the bug too, a big part of the enjoyment of playing a custom world is the "complete" feel of it and it would be a shame to have to start placing new lots the first thing. I only asked because I know you hope to get it approved for challenges, and in challenges performance trumps aesthetics.

To me, combined rabbit holes always made sense, since as you said they reduce the amount of lots you have to place, and I love having more residential buildings in my towns.

Absolutely - performance comes first. I won't release it with combined rabbitholes unless the glitch is fixed - otherwise it will be back to the drawing board to include more lots. Luckily, there is at the very least, room to enlarge some of the edge lots, and, worst comes to worst, I can re-sculpt the mountains in one corner to provide a lot more room.

Hmmm, I haven't noticed this glitch yet.... I sincerely hope that they fix it soon, though! Your world is looking so lovely, it would be a real shame to have to go back to the drawing board for so many lots...
