Yay! Just got IP and MS stuff today. Cypress Lakes will be finished soon. So long as CAW has also been updated, There'll be some more building happening very soon! I nearly didn't buy them - to start with I didn't want to - I get buyers remorse before I even buy it. Then, when we had just about finished shopping, I had non-buyers remorse. So I sent hubby back in to get them!

Yay! Have fun with your new games!

Today I did a full reinstall to include MS, and Island Paradise.
I have done a basic dive lot to test out - and possibly alter after playing to see what it needs.
I've updated my pool with some of the new items;
I've mostly finished a modern houseboat, and half-finished, then lost, the dock that it is ported to. Silly me saved the houseboat to the bin then quit without saving, forgetting all the other work I had done! I have included a few of my own patterns on this build.

There is a good tutorial on the official forums here for creating ports and house boats in CAW.

I still yet have to finish the houseboat (but it's late here), and then check out what's new with spawners to see what I need to add. After that I'll rearrange some lots to place the resort. Then it's on to testing the new lots, and then finally, adding the sims!

Yes, all EP's, some SP's. I don't have FL, KPST, DS or the Decades SP. Which ones are you missing?

Chuckles, it looks great! I looove the room in the last picture, the pattern on the bed and the painting are beautiful! And I really like the pool and the houseboat too.

Is the painting on the wall a picture? or a painting made by a sim? Or maybe it came with IP and I haven't seen it yet but I'm in love with it.

Swirlgirl, it will be quite limiting, but I'll see if I can come up with an alternative that you might be able to use, if you would like. What I may do is create an empty version, and modify a few of the lots so that they are basegame plus corresponding EP content only. Eg, if it's a late night lot, only base game and late night content. That way people can download the world and only the lots that they have EPs for.

Frey, The painting came with Seasons. The pattern on the bed is one of my own, and you can download it on my pattern thread :)

I've had some fun tidying it up today, and have redone my dock. There is only one space for a house boat, but it's not exactly a huge lake, so you wouldn't be likely to want more than one on it. There are two mooring cleats, and a 'ramp' for launching smaller boats.

I'm considering extending the road a little so that it doesn't look weird having a car park with no road attached, but it will take up valuable space. Nevertheless, I think it needs to be done.

Next up, a resort - with room for improvements, of course, but still up to the standard of my small town :D In the meantime I really need to check out the new spawners and actually have a play with IP to make sure I've got everything I need and haven't made any serious fubars.

Spawners - check. I've added one mosquito spawner, one shells/bottle common land spawner (land and underwater ones are essentially the same), one uncommon underwater, and one rare underwater. Plus one sealife - all spawner. I've also popped a lifeguard chair down on the beach. I'm tossing up whether to add a shark spawner or not.

Aha! So that's why I don't have the painting, the only EP I don't have yet is seasons  ::). One more reason to buy it as soon as I can I guess! But I will be downloading your pattern! I loved it.

I really like how this is going. One thing I miss from the game is having a world that comes with all (or at least most of) the features from all EP's without having to add them myself... building them takes too much time, and using the pre-made ones often looks odd, like the Consignment store that is never correctly placed!

I agree - that is why I have tried to implement as much from all the other expansions as possible. I will be adding little tid-bits here and there as I find something that is more suitable than something I've used previously, and to help the town feel completely blended, rather than lots of add-ons. The ladder was something I really liked - as soon as I knew we were getting them I allowed a space for one on a lot, seemingly insignificant, but it really adds to the concept I've used.

You don't have to do that! I greatly appreciate the sentiment, but I'll settle for drooling instead.

Haha, ladders are the best add-on we've had in a while, in my opinion. They are so functional! And they look great too.

I can't wait to download this  :D

Today I had a lot of fun building my 'resort' lot. Right from the get-go I knew that a standard 'resort' just wouldn't do, and can be so much more flexible that what is provided. I have built a beautiful little B&B Inn, based (loosely) on the Dragonfly Inn from Gilmore Girls. I have tried to stay true to the style and decor of as much of the set as I could, but I had to take some artistic licence in some places. The 'luxury VIP rooms' were the main ones - I couldn't quite pull off the antique look shown in the one picture I found (more pictures here)

I have made extensive use of my own patterns on this one - and some of them I custom made for this purpose. New ones that I haven't uploaded yet, but will in the near future include 'basic mosaic large', 'floral 13', 'quilt 03', and 'lattice 03'. I initially had the house with redbrick foundation, and and red/orange dilapidated looking tiles, but it didn't match my town that way, so I matched those with the town.

Now off to play-test, an inevitably nudge a few things around a little.
