Well, I now have all but one of my rabbitholes placed and recoloured where necessary/desired. My last one finally finished, and I finished all the LODs I hadn't done (so much hard work). Here is the Equestrian Centre:

I only have yet to place the arboretum. And that doesn't need recolouring, because it is very pretty as is. Now to think back to what else I had considered recolouring...

I decided to see what I could 'rob' from Summerset Isle (my first world) to speed things along here. I have re-purposed the gym, ripped out the insides, rearranged the back, and used it as an Art Gallery. I'm not sure if I want to keep the design though. It is very modern, but I do like it.

Also, last night I stayed up way too late working on the Salon. I kept telling myself 'just one last bit'...

I think the gym turned art gallery will fit beautifully among all of the other buildings, even if it is more modern looking than the rest^^

I really like the art gallery, and the salon is so nice! Beautiful work!

I love this! It is all so neat and tidy, I won't be able to download due to lack of eps, but it is still wonderful eyecandy! *Drool*

There isn't one part of the town so far that isn't exceptionally brilliant! This is another true sign that Chuckles has huge passion and dedication to the world of Sims.

I have begun work on a large 40x40 lot, with an old house come new. It will be a skilling house, with all the necessary skilling objects. Hopefully I can achieve the effect I would like without overdoing the decor, and I still don't know if I will include it yet, as it may just be too big. But here goes so far. The outside is a work in progress - I based the front from someone else's build to try out a new building technique, so I need to change that.

Here are a few shots of what I have inside so far:

Pool - Lower Ground Floor

Gym - Lower Ground Floor

Nectar Cellar - Basement

Laboratory with Hosfac Industries Ltd. style Safety System - Basement

I especially liked my test subject room. As always, no store content or custom content.

It took me quite a long while to work out the way to set up the safety system, but after several hours of reading and experimenting, I finally understood it. The thread about it is here. Really I can't explain it more clearly than Ausette did in the second post. The only thing that I can add to that, is in order to link several things to one switch, you  need to repeat the process completely. It won't remove previous links unless you tell it to.

That build looks amazing so far!  I love the old wall - I swear I've seen that wall when touring old homes before!  The pool/gym has a real medicine ball and moustaches sort of feel to it (by that I mean built in the Edwardian era).

The science lab is just incredible!  The colours and object used really creates the test lab atmosphere.  It's Portal-esque, but in a good, Sims 3 way.  ;)  Impressive work with the tomb tools - I only wish I'd seen that thread when trying to figure out how to use them.  They're fun, but certainly non-intuitive at first!

Great stuff as always!

I just read through all the work you've been doing on this world and I have to say I am amazed! I can't wait to see the rest of your builds and recolours and I can't wait to download it when it's all finished.
From the moment I fell down that rabbit hole I've been told what I must do and who I must be. I've been shrunk, stretched, scratched and stuffed into a teapot. I've been accused of being Alice, and of not being Alice, but this is my dream. I'll decide where it goes from here.

Thank you Sunshine, and thank you Vinyl for such detailed compliments. I had to do a bit of searching to find out what you meant - I think in general I might need to do some architectural history research. After googling Portal-esque, and then images for Portal, I finally know what you mean - it certainly does. I'm not including LTRs and such in the house, but it will be a great place to put the teleportation pad and the time machine :)

As for the style, after a bit of reading, I think I might have something somewhere between Victorian, Edwardian and Federation. But I still need to make some changes yet, so we'll see what I end up with!

This was a fascinating read. You've gone into so much detail, done some incredible research and created lovely lots.  A real labour of love... and you, eventually, plan to share it with us.  What a delight.

I hope that the 'team' will assess it, when it is finished, and give permission for it to be used in the various challenges and dynasties. A small, well researched, fully featured world, like yours, would be a god-send to those of us whose laptops/pcs don't really like the larger worlds.

It's only a small thing but I like your use of the cypresses, both in the name of the town and in their regular appearance on various lots over your world. The low-rent housing (um... government housing is it?) especially: I really like how a cypress occupies that mandatory space between the lots.

I've much admiration for you.  Really interesting and informative posts and a lovely, practical, small world.

Thank you Gheez. Right from the start I decided that the Cypress trees needed to be a central theme to my world. I pictured them in my mind lining the main street and leading up to the graveyard at the end, right from the beginning. I built on the idea from there. I'm not too far from finishing the building now. There's a few lots that I have been putting off. The pool - I know what style I'm building that - it will be similar to those in Sunlit tides in structure. The bars - I built one, but I don't think I'll keep it. They're presenting a real problem for me, but I have saved a few pictures of a local corner bar/ sports bar that I might use for inspiration. Keeping them small, but not too crowded is the main set-back. I also have a couple of houses half-way built, and maybe one or two more to build after that. Finally, some touch-ups throughout, and then the population.
