I found a few tiberiums (uncut) from space rocks since I installed Ambitions, but even though I placed them in the open, they aren't growing.  Any hints?

I've heard that traveling with an uncut Tiberium in your inventory can produce a spire-cut Tiberium but I've been unable to replicate the results.  If I were you I'd just fork over the 6,500 to get it spire-cut then just place it in your house and wait a couple days for it to grow into a large, that's the only way I've been able to do it.

When you get a Tiberium from breaking space rock blocks, it won't transform on its own.  The ones you get in the wild while traveling will, however.  It seems that the traveling is what triggers the transition.  You do have to get the ones from space rock blocks cut in order for them to transform.  You can do the $6,500 small spire cut, but if you have done enough collecting, you can also get the heart cut for Tiberium at only $1,000.  Once cut, it will cause the sickness if left in your Sim's inventory, so put it out somewhere for the transformation to happen.

Aaah, yes! I was wondering why some tiberium didn't grow in my game. First I thought it was just a bug, but now I understand they just don't grow in Sunset Valley.

Leto, they grow in SV, you just have to get them spire cut first and then place them wherever you want for them to become large cut, just leave room around them.  I mean if you want to travel with them you can, but it is a waste of time, unless you're going to travel anyway.

'When they are cut in Sunset Valley and returned by the mail man as a spirecut' I must put under my previous text to make it more clear of what I mean. I've add it now though. :)

I am not sure what exactly triggers the growing and transformation, but my active sim has recently been to China for a few days, and spend a lot of time collecting and mining. I did not pay attention to what she picked up until she started getting sick a few days after her return home. The moodlet said it was because of Tiberium in her inventory, so I checked and sure enough found two pieces of uncut Tiberium in there that were making her sick. I put both in the (inaccessible) attic of her house and decided to forget about them. A few simdays later I suddenly noticed green drops around the ceiling, and found two large spire cut pieces of Tiberium in the attic instead of the uncut pieces I had put there before. So Tiberium does not have to be cut to make you sick, and it does grow by itself without being cut. Next time I will put the pieces right next to each other to keep them from growing ... the bills I got before I found the grown tiberium in my attic almost made my sim go bankrupt ;) .

Your right, the ones from the other countries you do not have to have cut.  Once the sim gets the nauseous moodlet, then you can take out and it will turn to large spire.  The ones that are found from breaking spacerocks and from the miner now, you have to get them cut first by sending them in the mail and then when they return they will grow into large spire cut in a couple of sim days.

I don't know if this has changed after Ambitions or what, but when I used transfiguration to produce tiberium, I got small spirecut tiberium (instead of tiberium in raw form). I placed them in my sim's inventory, and after he got the nauseous moodlet, I placed them on top of a fireplace. Fairly soon one of them spontaneously turned into a large spirecut tiberium. Apparently the other one didn't have enough room to grow, but after I moved it a bit further away from other objects, it turned large, as well.

The thing I'm wondering about is the fact that the transfiguration produced the smaller sized spirecuts, which goes against any of the guides I've read that state it should produce raw tiberium.

I've never had the display case produce any kind of Tiberium at all, much less a small spire cut!

If you place a mixture of metals and gems of a total worth between 3500 and 5000 on the display case, you should get tiberium.
