With the Miner I had about -50 relationship with the Frio Brothers and The women next to them!  :D Ghosts were not to pleased about it too. Even though I got max Inventing I only reached level 5 in his career, maybe because I spent more time inventing but that seems a good idea to me, once you are past level 5 in the career it seems to take a lot more expensive creations to count towards job performance.

Just to close the matter: I said it because I am trying a Cheat Diet!  ;)

EDIT: Just did some testing with a certain Simbot Character and posted the pics in another thread so here is a quote of them!  :)

Yeah darn good screenshots back there, samoht. Mind if I use the time machine one on the inventing guide? :D

I am hoping they just messed up and the gems you collect from mining will some day count toward the heart shaped cut.

First time trying and I immediatly reseived a soulpeace gem. It could be lust luck, but mining great gems is possible. :)
That way inventing can be nicely combined with collecting.
I really like those things: combining skills to make more money out of it that way. I think I will start a new topic about that.

Edit: not only thinking, I've just did. :p

Wish I had that particular kind of luck. ;)

I made an Inventor Sim, and she's having problems. Around hitting level 8, she could not invent anything. The action showed up, and she could perform it, but no new inventions were made. She either runs out of scrap, gets too hungry or tired, of has to use the can. All she's doing is wasting time and scrap, and I really want a time machine, AND she needs the money. Help, please.  :(

A Time Machine is unlocked at a Level 9 or 10 in the Skill, So if it's level 8 of skill the sim won't be able to invent it. Just make loads of widgets to make some money and raise the skill, get your scrap from the Junkyard until you can start moving up the skills. Maybe make a stockpile of Scrap?

I can't find that thread, but it seems that Inventing and Sculpting should work well together because inventing's scrap collecting provides for metal sculptures too.

I don't know if anyone knows this but you can put the scrap you collect in the inventing table then you don't have to keep it all in your inventory. I imagine many have figured this out but just in case you didn't I wanted to let you know!

Or you could get the time machine or miner at the consignment shop, I know this takes away the fun of inventing them, but i just got the miner for now, what a neat invention.  My little sim is almost lvl 9 for the inventor anyway, so thought i might as well get it.

I bought the miner and harvester from the shop, and am trying to use them now. I wasn't allowed to dig a hole near the graveyard, so I dug one in my front yard, and immediately was surrounded by complaining neighbors. It created a hole glowing with golden light, and when my sim investigated inside it she was gone for several hours, encountering a tunnel network of crab people and got injured by a sentient mushroom. It said if she had been thinner, she could have gotten through a crevice and discovered Atlantis. When she came out I tried the harvester around it, but it was greyed out. Should I fill in the hole or leave it there?

What do we know about mining? I didn't see a thread. Where can we mine and how does it work in relationship to the harvester?

Crab people!? Now that's a reference to South Park! It must be! :D

You can find it in the Skill part of this forum. I've decided to put it there where it belongs, in case you where looking in the Ambitions part.

I left the golden hole open and went down there another time, this time there was a White Rabbit and a golem. Both times she came back with a single cheap gem. I'm going to keep trying. I like the way it looks.

My first time using the miner, I got palladium. :)
