How are you selling your widgets and inventions? I read somewhere that selling them at the consignment store doesn't count toward your Inventor income.

Yeah, I thought I saw a sale from the consignment shop count toward my inventor experience, but on level 8 or 9 I put up a large inventory there and got no results. There was at least over $10,000 in sales and the experience bar didn't move at all, and the totals didn't change. But I did get the money. Very odd.

In putting together the guide I neglected to mention that experience. I'm going to put it in but hope to have to fix it because this smells like a bug to me  :-X

I have the same issue! I sell and sell and no experience! I've even looked at the consignment tab in the journal and on one of my peeps I've gotten the over $25,000 at the store, but still nothing on my experience!

Weird. This is no problem for me in my game. I wonder what I did different.

Question. I know you need to collect a couple of things in order to make monsters so I was wondering what is the best way of finding these things? Is there a good spot to look for life fruit, pink diamonds, or pallodium or is it just sort of a look and hope you find sort of thing? I don't know if you can even get life fruit anywhere without growing it yourself. Hopefully someone can help me with this!

Maybe there's a career level or simoleon level that's triggering this. I'm just starting my inventor, so I guess I'll watch carefully to see if my experience moves at all, and if it does, keep watching to see if it stops.

Just to add to the time machine -- my sims tried for baby in the past and a few hours (or maybe the next day) their Young Adult son popped out saying something to the effect of he was tired of living in the stone ages.  His clothes look pretty cool, I noticed that he has two Everyday outfits, the other one being normal "modern-day" attire.

FYI as well your sims can woohoo/try for baby even when they still have the 4 hour moodlet for time travelling.

Also in my experience they only come back with $ or possessions about half the time.

I agree though, the new time travel outfits are indeed nice.  My female sim came back from the past with some sweet new (old) duds.  =)

This is actually with sculpting, but I just went from level 7 to 10 in a single day selling a ton of items at the consignment shop. No idea why inventing wasn't working... definitely something up with that.

Life fruit technically must be grown. I found two lifefruit over the course of my entire life of the sim, one was from investigating a glowy hole and the other was the time machine. I ended up planting them and growing my own. Pink diamonds you can get from using the miner, the same with palladium however when asked for palladium a dot will appear on your map showing if there happens to be one in town, sort of like how it works in WA. The other difficulty is you have to get the pink diamond heart shaped cut, which requires you have received one of each type of gem, which will take awhile of mining or collecting around town, or martial arts rock breaking  ;)

Yeah, or I just didn't give enough attention to see it. My sims were multimillionaires in no time after they sold a lot of their nectar and, therefore, money is not a problem. They got 9 million dollars for it! :S It was 1200 bottles or so.

On another thread they were talking about Monsters? What exactly are they and what do they do? I gathered they were to do with inventing and like the omni plant opportunity?  ???

I am having the same problem with nectar-making. My sim had never sold hardly any of her nectar bottles, so when I signed her up for self-employment, I took at lot of her nectars to sell at the consignment shop. It got a lot of money, but nothing on her self-employment info! :(

Thank you! So I can't just find a pink diamond and get it cut in a heart shape? Or do you just mean you need to find others to unlock the heart shape cut? I have never found a pink diamond so I don't know much about it but I am hoping to find all this before I get to the challenge so that I don't have to stop to look for it then. So anything else you can tell me will be of great help!
