Feeling guilty :(
« on: June 06, 2012, 03:59:28 PM »
So I made a sim with 6 horses , only to discover that I had bitten off more than I could chew so I decided to put two of the horses up for adoption
along came the lady to take the two horses away .... and I just felt soooo guilty and sad that now I cant play that sim at all

Has anyone else done something like this ... or am I the only pathetic one on the forum :-[

Hi simmese, and welcome to the forum!

I don't remember if I had a guilty feeling in The Sims 3, but if I had I would have reloaded a previous save file, even if that means 6 hours having played for nothing.
I don't think you are pathetic. It's just how close you feel to your sims. You're horses will have another life with another sim. And who knows, perhaps you will see them again one day. ;)

I do get pretty close to my simmies and their pets

I couldnt cope with looking after my sim and all the horses so going back to a previous save isnt really worthwhile as id just get frazzled again , maybe I should have started off with just one or two horses huh , lol

ah well , I know for next time :)

Haha, yes. If you are new to this game I actually highly advice you to just start with one single sim. Get to know how the game works, let him/her grow up in a career and household and eventually settle down with a nice wife or husband.

If you want to start with a pet, take a cat (as that rimes) or dog with a single sim and do the same thing. That's how I would do it. :)

simmese: don't feel too sad. With the sims game you have to learn how to juggle things, and it takes time. Some games you make a mess of things, then you start again and things work out. It's a learning curve.
The game also throws things at you unexpectedly, so, it's not your management of your family; but, how the game uses story progression.
You'll learn how to manage the ups and downs of the sims. It's fun, and there are moments you feel sad for your sims. Just remember, it's only a game.
Don't give up on your sim, if you really like her/him. Just start a new game and try to work out what went wrong in the last game. Trial and error!

I once put one of my kittens up for adoption, and immediately felt so guilty that I adopted him right back.

I did the very same thing!  I wanted to free up some space in the house, but I couldn't stand when the little guy was taken away and then showed up as being at the shelter.  I brought him right back home.

:)

I get really attached to pets, too. Which I expect will present a problem in the household I started just now -- it is meant to eventually be primarily a horse ranch, and I just know I'll feel like a pile of horse droppings the first time a home-bred foal ages up and is ready to be sold.

When I booted up the game after installing pets, I gave my Sim a horse to start with and realized I really wasn't into training, racing, etc and it just... bored me. I'm not a horse person in real life and clearly I'm not in the game, either. I sold him to the ranch (whatever it's called) and had a video made and screenshots taken as he rode his horse over. I actually felt really bad for awhile but then he adopted three cats and I kind of forgot about the horse >.>;

You're not the only one though ((HUG))

I also feel really guilty about putting pets up for adoption :(

Also my sim once created simbot and I had to set him free because of the challenge rules. I felt so guilty.
To make matters worse the Simbot kept visiting my sim everyday. He looked so happy to see my sim...
After that I have never let my sims create Simbots :(

I one had to delete a few pets, which I think is worse then letting one die. I had to do that because the game got glitched and I couldnt let my sims take care of them.
Yeah, I didnt like to do it. And now I think about it, maybe it was better to put the pets out of my sims home onto one from another sim. Of course I think of that now.

I had this happen once.  I started my family of three with a horse in CAS, but when moving, the horse somehow got stuck on the porch.  I couldn't get him off - he couldn't use the stairs.  I tried everything...deleting the stairs, using every cheat but the one that would've helped...In the end, I remembered that social workers could magically transport children to their car, so maybe it worked the same with pets?

I wound up putting Charms the horse up for adoption, and, as the social worker spirited him away, I realized that, straight through the house, was another door leading out back. Man, did I feel stupid!

I wish I'd known about being able to adopt pets back... :'(  I felt like crying, especially since my sim looked so sad.
