SIMCITY'S GONE GOLD
Hello, I'm Ocean Quigley, SimCity's Creative Director. On behalf of the SimCity team, I'm thrilled to tell you that we just finished our Gold Master disc. As you read this, SimCity discs are starting to roll off the assembly line and into their boxes to be sent to stores around the world for their March launch.
Maxis' come-back game is finally finished, I hope they're working on an expansion right now.

I pre-ordered my copy today. The guy at EB was surprized because last week I told him I was going to wait. Now when it comes out, I'll have to decide which to play, SimCity or Sims University  :-\

I think University comes out at the same time.

University and SimCity come out on the same day.  It's been that way for a little while now and kind of makes me mad.  March 12th is the release date for Starcraft 2's new expansion.  I've been getting them mixed up until this past week myself.

For those that don't know - SimCity is doing a 7 cities in 7 days live broadcasts where they are taking polls on what to do with the cities they are offering.  Today is Disaster City day.   You can join the fun over at letsallbemayor.com  It's only running for another 2 hours today but there will be another one tomorrow.

This is the main reason I've been looking into PC gaming. I remember the many thousands of hours I put into simcity way back on the SNES. This is definitely a game I want and will eventually own.

I like the idea of making the game where you have to rely on others in your region. Brings a bit of reality to it. Cannot wait.

I am going to start a multiplayer region in Discovery Delta.

Because i like to try out the multiplayer, but am afraid of going with total strangers, so by asking for people from here we atleast have some sort of connection to each other.

Lets start out with saying one city per player, that makes space for a total of 16 people. I would say first come first serve, so if you want a certain city write me fast.

You can do what you want with your city, its also up to you how many of your resources you want to share and what not. When we have settled alot we will decide where the greatworks would be most fitting to help our region the most.

My origin ID is LenaLJ send me a friend invite, and let me now your forum name too :) Hope to be able to play with you all.

I'm not sure how many of you have been following the Simcity launch disaster but things got serious today when Maxis disabled "a few non-critical gameplay features" with a patch. This obviously points to their ongoing server problems. There's also the issue with city sizes. Why so small and limiting?

I find it just sad to watch the sequel to one of my favourite childhood video games be destroyed like this.

It is sad, frustrating and disappointing.  Server issues are currently horrific.  Play, impossible!

The situation of the servers is quite critic indeed, and it's only the beginning of the week-end. I succeeded to play a few hours since yesterday and I must say that I loved every minute of it. Besides the horrific load on the servers and a few tweaks or fix here or there, the game is absolutely great. I hope they'll improve the situation asap.

I been able to play for quite some time today.  Server issues have been minor.  Had to wait 20 minutes before I could get logged in, but other than a few disconnects which seem to be of no concern so long as you keep playing.  If you need to leave the game for any reason during a downed server, or wish do migrate to a new sector then it is a problem otherwise all's well.  However, I have found the map size very limitting.

I'm finding it a lot easier to get on now. When I got it on Thursday, it was very hit and miss (mostly miss) and so over the next couple of days, we (two of the kids decided they liked it too arghh) ended up with a number of games on different servers. Now it's settled down and I can usually get on to one of the two Oceanic servers. If you want to add me, my user name is Oz-Twinmum.
