I really want to get this game but I can't afford it :P I am lucky that I might get University on release day. Unless I get money some how then I will probably have to wait till summer or even my birthday (in November) :'(

I got into the second beta  ;D  It only runs for today, so I probably won't be around here much today.

I played a simcity on the Wii a few years ago  :P My city was so good I HAD to be the one to cause disasters, it was massive!
That is the fun of it!

But seriously, I got to try the Beta [Beta 2 actually]. I did encounter some graphic issues [which I reported] and I can say this: If you like cooperative games or games where you plan things out, then this is for you. I'll wait until the price drops before considering purchasing it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUTShbAcpEc - 20 minutes of gameplay for those who cannot play the beta.

Well, I've been playing SimCity on and off all day and I must say, I love it. Only problem with the beta, is that you can only play for an hour. After that it boots you out of the game. Of course you can jump straight back in, but you have to start from scratch again. An hour is by far not long enough to really immerse yourself in the game. Each time I played, I got better. The latest game, I had three schools that were upgraded and filled to capacity, two fire stations, two police stations, a casino, a bus depot with heaps of buses plus lots more AND I was actually making some reasonable money. The only problem being, to get that far, I had to have the speed on cheetah all of the time. I didn't get to a point where I had neighbouring cities to trade with which was disappointing, but all in all it was quite entertaining.
Now I have to save my money so that I can get it sooner rather than later. The other day, the guy in EB asked me if I wanted to pre-order it when I pre-ordered University and I said no, I had to wait because with it coming out the same day as Uni and having just bought a new computer, I can't afford it. But now I really want it... I wonder if I could sell off a kid or two (just joking  :P )

Does anyone know how heavy the game is on lower end computers? Did you have to have a pretty good PC to play it?

Watching my partner play SimCity in Beta and can we say disasters.... first a tornado, luckily on the outskirts of town in the low end housing.  The next (really funny) was a zombie apocalypse.... zombies invaded part of town and kept turning the people into more zombies which turned more and more, by dawn (where they all "crumbled to dust") about 7 blocks of rich residential and commercial was abandoned and we had to blow it all up to get them growing again.  Not only that but they invaded a school where I assume they 'ate' the teacher since the school was closed for about two day later while they looked for teachers.

Funniest thing ever.

Can't wait to play the real version!

Oh no!

I was just about to pre-order this.  Zombies - No Thank You.  I was hoping for a really good economic game not a horror cartoon fiasco.

Uh oh! I didn't mean to put you off of buying it.  I beieve the "disasters" can be turned off so no worries about zombies. It really isn't as bad as it sounded, (though I thought it was funny) andi think the disasters are dependant on the state of your town, we had no health care and too many deaths, so the disaster was zombies.

it was like a 24 hour thing.  Only lasted until 6:01 am PST today.   So sad.  Although I could only play for one hour at a time so I just kept remaking cities every hour last night.   I learned several ways to not make a city.  ;D

Yeah I thought it would at least last the weekend :C

Oh well at least I got to record a relatively amusing reaction to the news that there is a Sim City 5:
"I THREW MY MONEY AT YOU NOW GIMME NOW!" or something like that. The guy was THRILLED there was a Sim City 5 coming out.

Same here ;D

I got my beta key quite late so I had only 4 hours to play. With my crappy ISP time outs, that gave 3 full 1 hour long sessions. I'm absolutely ecstatic. When SimCity started for the 1st time, I screamed in front of my screen, stupid right?

I find the game is really very good. There are a few kinks to iron here and there until release (or more probably shortly after). But I was really impressed, and the more I played, the more I was impressed in fact. There are loads of layers of data and it feels pretty deep and complex, which is very good for a simulation game. But it's never too much either. Well, I just can't wait SimCity is released, and I'll happily skip TS3 University for this game. I've been waiting this day for 7 years!

Does anyone know how heavy the game is on lower end computers? Did you have to have a pretty good PC to play it?

So my old PC qualifies as benchmark for this (short specs = old 2 cores @2,4gh CPU from 2007 / 4gb or RAM / nvidia GT240). The gameplay was quite smooth in fact, but my "city" always remained rather smallish too. I suspect that I won't be able to play very dense ones nor huge regions maybe. The graphics were less then stellar, but my GPU is more than crappy too, so no miracle here! I didn't spend any time tweaking the settings either, but I think I could have improved the look of my game if I had had a bit more time. The color filters seam to be helpful for this.

My only real problem was regular disconnect from internet during the 1st hour of play. After everything was fine for the 3 next hours. I don't really know if the problem was on my side or on the server's side. But I fear that the main annoyance will be those time outs and disconnections. The joy of the always on  >:(

I was in both betas, and i have preodered the game. Im so looking forward to it! Already planning some of the larger regions i want to play in as private regions.

Im also thinking about trying the multiplayer, but i wwould rather want it to be with people i know from somewhere than just random people.
How many are getting this game and would be interrested in joining a multiplayer?

We also have it preordered and will probably be interested.  Lets keep each other posted and try it out.  I am sure we will be at Gamestop's door by 10am, lol.
