I have noticed that the scenary around the Sim has an influence on what is painted. Example: I have a painter who paints numerous outdoor scenes, and he lives on the lot to the right of Agnes Crumplebottum (it has a a nice view onto the ocean).

I've had Sims up on those lots and they will often paint pictures of the lighthouse which they can see from their lot.

Those are my favorite paintings, they are usually masterpieces of a high value when completed.

Ohhhhh!  That's very nice!  I love dragons and seeing them in the background is awesome!  They almost look like the dragons of Pern except they're missing the front legs that Pern dragons have.

My, all these paintings! I think when Carla and Marty's baby ages up I'll select artistic (if I can choose!) I've only played one artistic sim in TS3 and I lost interest in him when I came back from another household to find him married! I had intended him to be the bachelor artist and a bit of a lady's man.
mmm, I probably need a few more residents around town, I might even create someone artistic and move them into the studio house on the coast so I can play them straight away.

I think the colored part is a flower and the black things are leaves/trees. A flower in a tropical forest or something.

It's just done all artistic-like with color vs black and white. ;)
