That's a question that may not be answered until September.

This is also the first expansion pack that I have ever seen released!  When I started playing anything even related to sims, all of the first 5 were out!  I have been doing the happy dance in front of my mom with this expansion release!  I get hyper when I even talk about the expansion pack release!

Aww, I was like that with Generations. :) It's quite cool being a newbie, and discovering all the stuff in the game together, with all the EPs.

I'm not so happy about the occult population thing being checkboxes and not sliders, because that implies it's an "all or nothing" situation, which isn't brilliant. Oh well.

I agree, Fez.  But it's better than nothing.  And I'm glad to read that we will be able to prevent the active household from gaining celebrity status.  Not being able to keep my Sims from becoming celebrities was what led me to uninstall Late Night, so this is really, really good news to me.

I think the reason they made it checkboxes instead of sliders is because adding sliders in this capacity would probably render a lot of computers obsolete to play the Sims due to the process power that may need to be behind it.  Plus it's for your entire game like all the other options so it's just one more thing to remember if you want some things in one town and none in another.

I don't really mind the celebrities all that much, but it's nice to have the option for those more quiet sims!

I actually kinda wish there was a feature that'd allow us the different spans etc for different files, maybe even one that enabled mods in some files without there being any in others. It's very annoying having to constantly change between my dynasty folders to my legacy and just-for-fun file and then back! Maybe someday.. And yea, that makes sense, it'd probably require a lot out of the computers to use sliders.

I too am pleased about the ability to stop my household becoming celebrities, now I'm just worried about members I move in and out of the house gaining celebrity status and passing it on, or a household I want to go back to but is not currently active.

I'm the type of person who needs the digital version. I'm too lazy to write down my registration code, but I always end up losing my box. Also I don't have anywhere in my room to put the boxes.  :-\ I digitally download lots of games and I've never had an issue with re-downloading them.

I bought a physical copy of most of the expansion packs and what I do is log into the Sims 3 Store (free to sign up, by the way) and register those games that I bought a physical copy of. When I looked at Origin, the games show up right along side the digital games I bought. I can even download and reinstall as though it is a digital game and the registration code is automatically stored so I don't have to worry about losing it.

I just found out about this like 2 weeks ago, of course, and I'm pleased with this.

On topic: I'm definitely looking forward to this expansion pack! Can't wait!

I don't know if it's permitted in Dynasties, but there's a Mod that enables that. It's called Any Game Starter. (Works up to Pets, and should work for Showtime)

Wow, umm…
Guess EA made a partnership with PopCap, didn’t they?

Likewise with other expansions, there’s some stuff I’m excited about and other stuff I’m not so excited about. But I may get this just for the limited edition Plants vs. Zombies accessories.
“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back!” - Cave Johnson, Portal 2
“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.
