I'll have to age her up to child, so she's older than her little sisters (as she should be).

Will she be getting a trait when you age her up?  If so, I suggest you don't, you may get a trait you don't want her to have.
My first sim family I thought they had to have a cake to age up.  Unfortunately, he didn't eat any of it, but mom and dad ate some and they aged up to elders.  I bought another cake and he aged up, but since he hadn't gone through the stage, he was given a trait by the progaming, a negative one.

If she is going from to toddler to child, you lose a chance to pick a trait.  Someone correct me if I am wrong; birth you get to chose two traits; baby to toddler no trait is given; toddler to child you pick a trait;  from child to teen I am pretty sure you pick a trait; and from teen to young adult, I don't know.   These all depend on how good a parent you are.

My baby that was born in a family yesterday, it was so hectic that I guess I goofed somewhere. I was allowed to pick only one trait which was a first for me.  He was given the trait of genius.

If you're using a cheat to age the child up, you can also use a cheat to change the child's trait if you don't like the one you get... :) Even if you're normally opposed to using cheats, I think "fixing something the computer did that screwed me over" is a fair case for using one.

It's her toddler birthday, so I'll teach her her toddler skills real quick, then use the birthday cake for child.  At first I used the birthday cake for her as a baby, but then I had second thoughts (because of the random trait assignment).  It caught on fire, my first b-day cake to do that!  I had the mother carry her out while the dad extinguished the fire.  The other girls, toddlers, were still in their rooms.  No one was hurt!  And now I'll wait to use the cake to age her up to a child after she's learned her toddler skills.

I agree, that poor child will need some professional help; Post Traumatiic Stress disorder (PTSD) will definitely show up in this situation  ;D

@Cathyknits,  normally I don't like to use cheats, except the motherlode at the start; but there are always exceptions, I hadn't thought of that at the time.  Stil to new to sims and what can be done then; although there is still a lot to learn.

Asking the Sim expert in my household I found out that you can get the child back by going to Edit Town, split the child off the household (since she still is attached. just "hibernating") and then attach the child back again right away.  Exit Edit Town and your child should be back in your house.

If that all makes sense.

:)

Thankyou so much for this help!! I got so worried  :P it actually worked, although i had to send the dad out with the baby, but i merged them both back into the household straight away and it worked, i even got like 16000 simoleons extra i think, because the dad got it as a separate household  :D  thank you so much  ;D
