Baby-stealing babysitter! Help!

A while ago, on my very first family ever, my female Sim had just had twin girls, in addition to the almost-toddler she already had.  All three were crying and driving the parents nuts, so I called in a babysitter, Candy Ashleydale.  When Candy got up to leave, a message popped up that she had to go.  So, she called a cab and left - with baby Ava (the oldest) still in her arms!  I've invited Candy over several times, but she never brings the baby.  Candy doesn't live anywhere in town.  I've tried resetSim, but it doesn't work.  I've read about several other people who have had this glitch.  Any help? Thanks!

 Is the baby's picture still in the column on the left side of your screen, and in your family's family tree? If so, can you select the baby as the active sim and show her needs and inventory and so forth?

No, she just disappeared from the family sidebar.  She's still in the family tree and in the pic before the game loads (on the menu), though.  Her younger sisters aged up, but her pic on the Menu makes her look like she's still an infant!

Asking the Sim expert in my household I found out that you can get the child back by going to Edit Town, split the child off the household (since she still is attached. just "hibernating") and then attach the child back again right away.  Exit Edit Town and your child should be back in your house.

If that all makes sense.

I think cndneh means to split the child from your own household in Edit Town.  Then re-attach her to the household.  While in Edit Town, click on your own house to do this.

If I'm wrong, cndneh, please correct me.

Thanks for trying so hard everyone!  The baby isn't part of my household, she and her sidebar pictures disappeared when Candy took her.  I wish Sim police would listen better, and stop giving out all these fines!

But you said she still shows up in the portrait and on the family tree.  That's what's making us think she's still part of the household somewhere in the game.  Did you try this Edit Town thing?

Can you share a save file? I might be able to fix it for you, or at least work out what went wrong.

As far as finding Candy, what would happen if you called for a babysitter? Would you get a different sitter? Candy always shows up for my Sims so I was just wondering.

I made friends with Candy before she left, but she never brings the baby when she comes over.

Pam is correct on both accounts.  If the baby still shows up on your family portrait (while the game is loading) and in the family tree, then the baby is still attached to the household, just invisible.  If you go to Edit Town, reattach her like I said, she should be back.

all NPC's (babysitters/pizza men etc..) have a separate household, not accessed via edit town. You can however access it with MasterController. Or through calling the babysitters "household over".

They're all still acting like Ava's still there (she's in their wishes).  I split Ava, who still showed up in Edit Town, and her dad up from the household. She's back now, thanks everyone!
