Job Progress Lost After Resetting Lot

I had a bug where my Sim would literally be stuck at work - the time would be well past when he should've come home, yet the 'work' queue icon was stuck with a full bar and nothing made him come home until I canceled the work queue icon.

Eventually I read it's a bug with the lot so I deleted the building and put a fresh one in... only to lose my job progress -all nine levels- in one go. I wouldn't be so frustrated except that my Sim is 10 days from reaching elder, and I was hoping he'd get his LTW before that - and I've no where near enough lifetime happiness points to get the age freeze potion.

Is there anyway of retrieving my progress? I tried getting the career back but it shoved me at the first level, and my only backup would set my legacy family back a whole lot.

1solution: unset the Enable Aging  from the options Menu, and you can easily reach again level 9, without becoming elder.
2solution: use NRas mod to edit your job skill back to lev9. This is the easiest solution, but I don't recommend CHEATING. So, it's up to you.

I'm iffy on using the mods only because so many people say their game files were messed up once modified by the mod after removing it. Though, this was last summer and things could've changed since then. I'll give both your suggest and the one below a try. I chose not to turn aging off since it's part of my legacy and it would throw everything out of proportion for me.

I'd use the Mailbox cheat that Galena mentioned. Next time this happens, if it does, you should try the resetSim cheat. I believe that is usually allowed in legacies, along with building cheats and that sort of thing.
