Swap shop downloads missing in game

I've been attempting to use our lovely swap shop, but I think I may be doing something wrong. Here's what's been happening: I click on the link next to the paper clip; a little popup shows up at the bottom of my screen asking if I want to open or save the file. I choose "open."

At this point, the Sim shows up in my launcher. Since I don't have Late Night, most of the Sims show up with a little exclamation point in a triangle telling me that missing content will be replaced by proxies. I check the box and click "install." The Sim looks faded out the way other installed content does.

However, when I go to start a new game, only the Sims I've made in CAS show up in the library. I've still got assorted Dreamweavers hanging out in my launcher (and thank you Pam for sharing them with us!), but none of them appear to have migrated into my game.

I haven't yet tried anything other than Sims, although there are some really nice patterns and a little house or two I've had my eye on.

I had posted not too long ago that I couldn't download the free things from the store, but a workaround was helpfully suggested whereby I went in through buy mode in-game and got them that way. I only add this in case it might be an issue with the launcher or otherwise related.

Any suggestions or ideas would be most welcome. Thanks everyone who's read this far.

Are they maybe in CAS? I think some of the ones I downloaded were in there… although I haven't played for a long time so I'm not positive.

And there they are!  I was sure they weren't there before, but maybe I just didn't recognize them--the game not only changed out hairstyles and clothing I didn't have, it changed hair colors as well, so Indigo and Cinnamon both have brown hair in terrible hairstyles. Thanks very much!

No problem Now if you want them in the library just start a new game with them and then they will be in it

That's no good!  The hair colors should have transferred with the download.  I think I can get you the code for Indigo's hair.  Cinnamon's hair is the same color as Thornton Wolff.  If you could play Thornton and get him to CAS, then save his hair color, you'd be good for Cinnamon.

Has anyone else had hair colors drop from downloaded Sims?

It is indeed strange. I think Periwinkle's hair was from the base game, and hers transferred fine. I downloaded Bubblegum after Indigo and Cinnamon, and the game gave all three of them the same hairstyle in an identical shade of brown. So I'm wondering if it just defaults to that hair if it doesn't recognize a hairstyle and hair color.

Edited to add to the oddness: I was just playing around in CAS, and after aging everybody down to teen and back up to YA, they now have the right color hair! I'm glad--they just did not look right with the brown. Although when they all had the same hair in the same color, you could really see the family resemblance quite strongly. I've saved the hair colors just in case something goes wonky again.

Yes, Periwinkle's hair is from the base game.  I've got the hair color codes for Carina/Indigo, Bubblegum, and Cinnamon.

Carina/Indigo:

Base - R111, G41, B34
Roots - R109, G29, B26
Highlights - R204, G78, B54
Tips - R233, G63, B57
Eyes - R106, G167, B182

Cinnamon:

Base - R65, G65, B65
Roots - R40, G40, B40
Highlights - R92, G95, B89
Tips - R142, G144, B139

Bubblegum:

Same as Cinnamon, but change the tips to R255, G145, B186

I have actually had that problem with some of the houses and community lots that i have installed as well, they show up in the launcer as being installed but dont show up in the game.  Same with store content as well, sims, worlds, contents...im a very unhappy simmer..
