Few seeds, and no public garden for harvesting. When starting with low funds, how is one supposed to start a garden? Probably the lettuce and grapes on the Coastal lot are placed for that reason. Ticks me off.

This is on par with no skilling books in Twinbrook's library.

There are many private gardens in Banacle Bay and they seem to have a variety of plants to harvest.  The Rome household also has Life Fruit plants like the Coastal family.  I'm still exploring all of the lots in town and hoping to find Flamefruit.  There's a Death Flower bush at one of the seed spawn spots.  I think it's Pirate's Hideaway.  But besides all that, you can purchase fruits and vegetables from the grocery story to start your garden.  The only things you can't get there are the special seed plant items.  Another member also suggested that Barnacle Bay may be a big fishing spot with special seeds being found from fishing, which I thought was an interesting theory.

I've not played in Barnacle Bay, haven't even downloaded it, but wouldn't it be the same way as SV, TB or RV? Couldn't you go into Edit Town and place gardens?

Yes, Edit Town is possible, but if a player wants to play a Dynasty in Barnacle Bay, Edit Town is off limits for that purpose.  In my personal opinion, we shouldn't have to use Edit Town to make the town the way it should be.  That's EA's job.  Barnacle Bay is set up a little differently, though, and we'll have to get it all figured out.  :)

Llamamama, sorry for the confusion it's like Wildred said! True Pam, why don't they realize they need to make everything the way it is in SV?

I don't know what they're thinking, Esther.  I guess they want to mix it up a little.

Oh, and I was mistaken about the Death Flower bush being at Pirate's Hideaway.  It's at Lookout Something.  I don't recall the exact name.

I guess! But they at the least need to make the other towns they make have the same resources as the others!

Quick questions about the Omni opportunity chain (which I've done on other sims). I want my sim to travel but she's waiting for the last phone call in the chain, she's mastered Gardening with 10 Outstanding steaks in her inventory. I've had her eat and drink in both restaurants several times, hoping to coax that call, but so far no luck.

1. Is it necessary that the steaks be in her inventory for the opportunity to come up? If so, how long before they devalue to Excellent quality? I'd rather keep them in a chest to preserve them, but I don't know if she'd get the final opportunity in that case.

2. I want them to travel now, but I'm afraid of interrupting the Omni chain. Might that happen? If he travels alone will her opportunity chain remain intact?

Thanks!

No, you don't the steaks in inventory for the opportunity to come up.  The opportunity doesn't even expect you to have them grown at all, really.  I've never had produce de-value once it's been harvested.

Traveling shouldn't impact the Omni chain at all.

Thanks, Pam. I thought I had a sim with Outstanding steaks in inventory long enough they devalued. Good to know harvested goods keep their quality!

I completed the Omni Opportunity chain for the first time in my da Vinci game and I never ate at either restaurant. The best thing to do is keep your Gardening Opportunity free and just go on with your game. Oh, and always answer the phone, of course.   :)

I've noticed if you hit ignore call the opportunity still comes up. Saves time when they have like 8 things up to do and you don't want to cancel them!

Actually, you don't have to answer your phone or do anything at all.  If it's an opportunity calling, it will pop up whether you answer the phone or not.  I put my Sims' phones on silence because the ringing makes me nuts.

And true, eating at the restaurants doesn't do anything toward triggering the opportunity chain.  It's strictly a skill chain and will come up when it's ready.  And like LlamaMama said, keep your skill opportunity slot open.

True, especially if you have multiple sims all over town and you don't know who's ringing! That's a good idea Pam! I just hit P and go searching that's very annoying!

Thanks for the info! When the phone rings I tend to have several things queued, and it's almost always a pain in the neck to cancel them. Now I can skip calls that come when my Sim is busy. Yay!

I can't remember ever having as many money trees in a game as I do my dynasty right now.  They average around 30,000 when they harvest all of them, so lets see, they harvest around every two days or so, maybe twice, three times a week.  Almost 100,000 a week, I know some people probably get more than that, but that is so cool.  My founder is a gardening fool and it takes him all day to harvest those silly trees. lol

We must have exactly the same number or close...I have exactly 20 Perfect Money Trees and they yield around 34-37k per harvest.
