My game just crashed!

Arrrgh! So annoying! I had got my sim pregnant, married and built & furnished a new house! I was happily playing along, thinking that oh I'll save when the baby is born,  then my screen flashes black (It does that often, making the screen darker. I normally press the Windows key to sort it out) and then the screen goes darker and keeps alternating, crashing, not letting me do anything. So annoyed! I almost feel like crying, but that's probably because I'm tired.

This has been happening to me recently too! Especially when I try to change appearance or plan outfit. Today it just went out of my sims and restarted my whole computer. Blah. It's so annoying.

It's important to regularly save your game.  We recommend you save it every Sim day.  I save mine when they all go to bed.

I use twallan's Saver mod, but I also do like Pam and save once they've all gone to bed, especially after a big day (wedding/graduation/aging up/etc.) I use to forget to save and its when it crashes and you've lost everything, and you feel like crying that you remember to save often.... I had to learn the hard way.

Sorry that happened. I save every 6pm and 12pm, every sim day.

I usually do save every night. I've had so many nights in this game where several sims are still up and awake that I forget to. I'm keeping a closer eye on it now. After every age up and skill point earned I save now.

I, too, save every night when my sims go to sleep. Learned this the painful way. I feel your pain.

I posted this thread over in technical help, but no one goes over there as much, but this is a wonderful thread by a member at the official forum, that was a beta tester for Showtime before it came out.  She knows alot of ins and outs and has alot of tips, especially for the use of "move objects on" and what causes crashes and lags.  I only put it here, because I think it will help alot of people, not that this site doesn't, don't get me wrong, but there are things that I think we tend to overlook in her thread.

I save after each important event nd don't wait for sim times. For instance, my sim get's a promotion, or meets someone I wanted her to meet, I save. Just to be safe. My sims never sleep (maxed on bladder and energy). No sleep for the wicked.

It is also a good to exit the game after you play for a few hours. I also exit and restart the game after 3-4 hours gameplay. Don't leave the game on pause for hours.

I'm bad about this one. Both playing for hours nonstop and leaving it on pause. I always have been, and I have notice my game acting funny after a long pause, I usually have to restart. hah.
