I have to ask this question: How do the clothes look like CC? I don't think they do at all. CC tends to look messy and too real, but the Diesel clothes look like normal Sim clothes to me. I'll be buying this as soon as I have more money in the bank. I'm personally, not a huge fan of recoloring, because I like a lot of the EA patterns, and I think it looks fine the way it is. I'll recolor sometimes, yes, but I prefer to keep the original styles.

The textures and designs look nothing like normal Sims content to me. I'm definitely not buying this because some of it looks cheap and ugly.

Indeed. The Sims franchise has always been about having various looks and this type of casual/distressed look hasn't really been included so far in the Sims 3. I think perhaps it is the level of detail included in this stuff pack (all the creases in the clothes and more form-fitting clothes for men, for instance) that may lead to the conclusion that it's not normal Sims clothing.

I've seen plenty of CC, and this certainly does not look like CC. CC oftentimes has more realistic (a lot of times even awkward and creepy) meshes and shinier textures.

This may seem a little random, but what initials are people using for this stuff pack? For example, Town-Life Stuff is TLS,  so what would Diesel Stuff be?

I've heard people abbreviate it as DS.

I've seen CC that looks like this stuff but I do know what you mean. There is a lot of stuff out there that is worse than this and as far as this style goes well EA has done better than the CC I think it looks like.

I've just been calling it Diesel.

I think that this will be a good expansion pack for my slob sims, no, I mean that as a serious statement.  It's kind of, uhhh, I don't know how to describe it, it just seems like it would fit my gardener, slob, and couchpotato sims.  I don't think it looks like cc, as long as it doesn't include any cc like hair then I'll be happy, cc hair... ugh, just ugh.   I wonder if EA could be making this stuff pack to make people that love cc happy with a less chance of ruining their game? Oh well, that gives me something to think about for the rest of the day. :)

I got my copy yesterday and the clothes look very different than what we are used to, but I like it. Some of the men's clothes look kind of wrinkled and dirty so my slob sim in Twinbrook will look great in it!

Eh. I got this stuff pack and it's quite mediocre. I'm using the furniture and clothes to make my Sim look hipster and it's just weird. And what's with those godawful tight jeans?

Well I must say I'll be well informed if I decided to get the DS pack or not. I never really paid attention to the clothes until I was ready to dress my Sim. And even then I always tend to use the recolor tool in the CAS. I just like having as much clothing options as possible.

I haven't read anything on this thread about hair styles. Is DS only clothes and furniture? Does it have any new hairstyles?

There are no new hairstyles, just 5-6 furniture items and loads of clothes. Some of the clothes are really nice, but some are absolutely awful - in my opinion anyway.

Oh ok. I would imagine that there has to be some clothes that are not that great. I mean not all clothes are going to look awesome. I have some Simmies that I could put in... not so cool clothes. From the look of the screen shots the styles look like back in my college days. I guess the fashions of my day are coming back around.  ;D

I just bought it today. I'm shutting down my game so I can install. I know it's just a measly SP but I'm still all giddy.  :D

I get all giddy with every sims release ;) There are very nice clothes in this pack. The one dress with a jacket is just awesome.

On the new Diesel Guide by Twinmum - someone asked what can be recolored and what cannot.  As it was answered, I realized we should probably show pictures.

Using this color panel:
