Good gracious! You're getting through these very speedily! Well done you! And I love all the virtuous names you've chosen for your Immortals!

I really like this Dynasty story, Shirin! Valor has a very poetic style, and you write it very well. I can also say that I've never seen Sam used in a Dynasty, and I'm so glad you did. (I have a soft spot for Sam.) I'll definitely continue reading this. Good luck!

Sam was a dynasty spouse in both the Smiths and Katluvr's Starrs too.

I really love the lyrical flow to this story. I wish I could write half as well.

Thanks so much, everyone  :)

I'm currently halfway through Charity's toddlerhood, but so far, Constance is my favorite pretty heiress. I've been letting the girls pick their own husbands (though in Sam's case, he picked his own wife!)

*Sam came home with Faith, and I queued up the "Do homework with..." action. Then he kissed her. I fell over laughing
*Grace went to prom solo, and had a big red heart for Antonio at the end
*Constance went to prom solo, and had a big red heart for Carmen at the end. Unfortunately, he somehow spent high school unemployed, and when he became engaged - OH LOOK, he's a babysitter. So he's a full life stage ahead. But it's working out well so far.

I'll try to get other shots in - the fish pond and fish gallery, for one (the kitties really did dig up every single WA fish at least 11 times between them).

Dear Mother,

Life is slow and easy here. Antonio grew older with each passing day, as does little Charity. She is so much like her grandfather in appearance! As you know, I have Her Royal Grace's hair colour...as do you and grandmother. As does my daughter Faith, my granddaughter Grace, and my great-granddaughter Constance.

Not Charity, oh no. Her hair is black as pitch - it could be attributed to her father, of course, but personally, I think Antonio's colouring skipped a generation. In addition to her grandfather's hair, Charity also has his eyes. Light lavender, almost like wisteria back home.

But as you know by my second sentence, Antonio's time came to an end. Death came for him while he was in the basement, upgrading a "stereo" for some reason (a "stereo" is a confusing metal box that produces music. I do not know how they stuff the conductor and orchestra inside of them!).

Grace was the first to reach her beloved mate, and I think this is when the truth finally struck - Death would take her mate from her, and her daughters' mates throughout the years.

Constance was inconsolable at the loss of her sire. I believe she was hoping he would be able to live long enough to see his granddaughter graduate, as Sam did for Constance. I am not certain what Carmen told her to ease her pain, but I believe it was similar to his belief that Antonio's heart was so big, even Death wanted him for a friend.

Even Charity knew something was amiss. I can tell this little one will have the intelligence and wisdom of His Royal Grace.

Before Death departed this domicile, though, he was kind enough to finish cleaning the kitchen for Grace (and rightly so, considering he interrupted that work by taking her mate!).

I hope to have more news later, Mother.

Dear Mother,

As happens when a mortal passes on, we each returned to our hobbies and tasks. Grace cooked and cleaned. Constance was constantly exercising, ensuring she had lost her "baby fat" (she has not been fat as a baby since she was, well, a baby!). Carmen played with his daughter.

He is working steadily towards his career as a magician. Faith told me that Carmen actually wishes to impress me! I think, however, I would be more impressed if he convinced this particular mortal that cavorting about the community in nothing but a bath towel was unwise (an unfortunate incident at the swimming pool has not yet convinced this mortal Lorenzo Kimball that he should work on his strengths to compensate for his...shortcomings).

Strange, these mortals.

Faith did some painting, but she decided to take up the study of statuecraft (fortunately, the water closets are not too far).

As for me, I took little Charity to the local library, reading to her all she will need to know about the study of maths, sciences, and logic. Mother, if I fail, I truly believe that Charity will be the one to restore us. I see in her the same brightness of His Royal Grace, the same quick mind and intelligence. It is truly spooky.

But she has a wondrous friend she has named Jared. She keeps telling us that he speaks to her and they are best of friends.

I also did something most unwise. I decided to try my hand at training equine. I adopted this lovely little filly named Pepper, but I did not realise she was newly foaled! Nevertheless, with so many willing to help our little orphan, I am shamed to admit that Charity's birthday passed without at least a photo.

And shortly thereafter, that child forced us to admit she was right. Her friend Jared - her invisible friend Jared - turned into a mortal right before my eyes!

That child is too smart for her own good!

Dear Diary -

I'm worried about Dad. It's been so long since Mom died, and I thought he'd found love again with Kara. Well, he does love her, but it's a sort of...I don't know, an old person love. Like he loves a friend, or an ideal. I guess it's a good thing Kara didn't want to get married.

Instead, every Monday, he sits down and eats this awful fruity fishy...garbage. The fruit would be ok, but the fish? Not even fit to fertilize the garden! I'd rather have it fertilize the landfill. And now he's gone and gotten it into his head that Gracie and I should have to eat that nasty stuff every week too!

Yuck!

Poor Gracie, Dad won't let her make it. He just keeps telling us to get it from the replicator. Antonio upgraded the memory in the replicators, so they hold twice the food in their data banks. And then what does Dad do? He lets Gracie start to make one of those things - and then stops her from finishing it! Instead, he took the half-finished bowl and stored the half-cooked crap in it...using all three memory slots.

Diary, that means we had sixty copies of that!

Maybe the reason it tastes so terrible is because of how it was half finished when it was stored.

But that's not the worst part, Diary. Dad had dug a pond (more like a trench!) by the side of the house years ago. Well, he decided recently it wasn't a proper restful area. So he dug another pond at the back of the property, and planted a tree and some flowers. And once he was satisfied with the landscaping, Gracie and Dad and I had to go fishing in the pond-trench so we could stock the new pond...so Dad could fill in this big gaping wet hole in the ground.

It's actually very pretty, but I think Dad's become delusional in his old age, Diary.

He keeps saying that it will appeal to Her Royal Grace (whoever that is!) and we need to keep eating that terrible replicated stuff so we can meet our royal forebears (Mom was rich, sure, but not royalty! And Dad? A handsome ne'er-do-well, according to Mom). Oh, and he was muttering something about "that Clan" and "exile" and something about his mother. My grandma would be dead! I mean, heck, I'm a great-grandma!

Diary, I think something is going on. Dad is up to something, and just gets mad if we ask. I guess we'll wait it out and see, but...

I'm pretty sure we won't like the answer.

Thanks, Diary.

~Faith

This is such a sweet story! You're doing great so far and the pond area looks very calm and inviting.  :)

Dear Mother,

Please forgive my extended silence. I regret very much that it appears this household has engaged in...what is it called? A rut, I believe. We have since installed a mechanical heated spring (the mortals call it a 'spa'), but it seats only four. We have an object that encourages jumping (called a 'trampoline'), but only two can use it without injury to others.

So my days are filled with routine - I get up, work in my garden, then relax in the spring spa. Faith gets up and usually relaxes in the spa, except when the urge to paint or photograph or sculpt overtakes her. Grace cleans the house, cooks enough to store in the icebox, and then also relaxes in the spa (or jumps on the trampoline). Constance has been working in her criminal career, though she is frequently arrested for theft. When she is not working, she is breaking rocks from outer space to provide us with many gemstones. Carmen had reached the pinnacle of his career, and has since retired. He now spends the days lazing around in the spa and helping around the house.

As for Charity and her friend Jared?

I suppose every little girl dreams of having her prince come to life.

They did go to this prom together. Jared was voted the King, and Charity the Queen.

Otherwise, they spent their days studying together. Jared studied gardening and fishing and handiness, he wishes to study science. And Charity studied all sorts of logic. She has opted to go into ghost hunting. No healer is this girl!

Oh, and this photo shows her playing chess in Egypt. That was Faith's graduation present to Charity and Jared, this trip.

I hope to write more shortly, Mother. My heart aches to be away from you, knowing I have no siblings to ease your sorrow.

Dear Mother,

It would appear the holiday to Egypt was relaxing. Faith also took Constance with her (Carmen pleaded old age), and so Constance spent some time breaking more of the space rocks. Jared, I understand, was upgrading appliances around the palace. Charity was challenging others to chess matches, and Faith was hacking into computers.

Computers are mysterious little picture boxes that connect to other picture boxes and somehow exchange information. I do not understand this, and Charity's attempt to explain just made me cross.

But it would appear the holiday was most relaxing to Jared and Charity.

When they returned, Jared presented her a troth ring that he had obtained in Egpyt. "A diamond as brilliant as my princess," I heard him say. Smart male, he knows that the secret to a happy marriage!

Not too much more has occurred here, except that Charity is already well known about this town as fighting malicious spirits of the dead.

Oh! While I am sure you must know now, I feel compelled to confess that Constance is the thief who stole the fox of Her Royal Grace's brother. That's right, my daughter thieved her many times great uncle's golden fox.

I cannot deny, I laughed most heartily when I saw it.

But with that done, Mother, Constance has now joined our ranks.

It cannot be soon enough done, Mother.

My apologies for the lengthy delay between posts, I really did hit a rut where I'm just waiting on Charity to be a mommy and Carmen to kick off the mortal coil. I'm not inclined to renovate the house yet again, though I may build Constance's board breaker area outside instead of in the gymnasium.

But Charity's baby should be forthcoming in a few days, so hopefully the rut will break...*fingers crossed*

Thanks :)
