There is a way to get hidden resolutions in Windows 7 by hacking the Intel GMA Driver and this way you can play sims 3 on a netbook without it cutting off at the bottom! In order to do this, you’ll have to go into the Registry Editor.
1) Type Regedit into the search bar or alternatively, press the windows key and R (Win+R) to activate Run and the Registry Editor should launch.
2) Search for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\
Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}0000
3) Scroll down to Display1_DownScalingSupported and double click.
4) Now change the field value to 1, press ok and restart your computer.
Doing this will allow you two new resolutions of 1024×768 and 1152×864. However I wouldn't advise being on these resolutions all the time, for example when browsing the web etc. But, for gaming and other programmes the resolutions are essential when using a netbook if you want the games/programmes full potential, for example, in the Sims 3.
