How do you increase the chance of painting brilliant and masterpiece painting? I don't like the perfectionist trait

The higher your level increases the chance. Also it seems that certain paintings are always Masterpieces, I think the Mona Lisa is one and the one of the Asian Boat might be as well.

The easiest way I believe is to complete the skill challenges that make painting the good stuff more likely.  To get there, you simply have to paint a load of pics until you meet the requirements.  What I do is just focus on painting small pictures until I get there.  They take less time.  Although they tend to be worth less money (I think), you can get more of them done in less time and up the chances of having a masterpiece or brilliant.

A small painting will never be worth very much. In my Dynasty my founder has supermaxed Painting and hasn't painted a single small painting, he has a week or two till becoming an elder and to be honest he could have done it before he turned Adult. It's best to work on the mediums and large paintings if it's a Dynasty, I think the more you do of them the more valuable they become. That and if you're doing the artist career alongside it then definitely go for the larger ones.  :)

I am doing this for Sally Dream my dynasty founder, so any tips, she has about 3 days to adult and has only done 19 paintings!

No need to fret, even if she does 1 Painting a day that's only 11 Days. She'll start speeding up the more you do so you might be able to churn out two a day or more.

I paint small paintings until I get the brushmaster challenge - that's 30 paintings done. Then they paint much faster. Not only that, the number of paintings you do increases the value of all your future paintings. So, if you are aiming for very valuable paintings for a dynasty, then you should paint small paintings all the time, until you paint a portrait of someone, and then paint them as big as possible for the portrait. Also, since small paintings are much faster, you should achieve the other challenges faster, making your paintings more valuable, and giving you more chances to paint brillant and masterpieces.

Just to be clear, you have someone else to paint the portrait of your founder, right? Because you can't do self-portraits (unless they've added something in a patch that I'm unaware of).

If you can afford it, I believe the LTR "extra creative" helps.

Thanks everyone, Sally just aged up to Adult, mastered painting, bought extra creative LTR and now has 3 masterpieces and 2 brilliant paintings!
