Chapter 13: Love Is A Metal Shoot
Sienna wanted to build a metal sculpture, but she needed scrap first. She headed over to Grady's Junkstop, the old junkyard on the outskirts of Sunset Valley.
She only intended to pick up some scrap, but she met Xander Clavell instead.
They talked for a bit. Xander told Sienna he was a decoy. Sienna didn't like the idea of being friends with someone in the criminal career track, but Xander seemed nice. Plus, if he was only a decoy, he wasn't really dangerous, was he?
They were friends before Xander left and Sienna finally gathered some scrap from one of the junkyard piles.
She collected 38 pieces of scrap, but it turned out she only needed three for a metal sculpture. She'd have a good supply for a while.
The only two sculptures Sienna could make were a chair and the metal stallion, which looked more like a dinosaur in her opinion.
Meanwhile, Carina was fishing in the graveyard, hoping to catch a perfect deathfish or vampire fish. Kaelyn was meditating just a few feet behind her, so she could be out after curfew.
Carina caught a lot of deathfish, but not a single perfect one.
At 5 AM, Carina gave up. Kaelyn finished meditating and went home while Carina stopped at the grocery store to sell her fish. The amount they sold for pushed Carina to level 5 of her angeler career, Saltwater Initiate.
It suddenly dawned on Carina that she hadn't done her homework and she had to be at school in two hours. She could do it herself, but she'd get it done faster if someone else helped her, so she asked a nearby stranger. Luckily, the stranger said yes.
Carina got her homework done within an hour and then raced off to school. No F for her!
While Kaelyn was practicing in her home dojo, Sienna decided to spend some time with Xander.
Unfortunately, the outing did not go well. Xander wanted to go to the pool, but Sienna's hydrophobia canceled that plan. They went to the gallery next door to the Le Petit Shark Pool Center, but they only stayed for ten minutes before Xander complained he was hungry. Then, after getting a bite to eat at the local diner, Xander left for work without so much as a goodbye.
Well, that sucked.
After school, Carina spent some time with Lynnette by the pool. The girls hadn't gotten together in a while.
They were supposed to go swimming, but they spent so much time catching up on things and chatting that it was dark by the time they were ready to swim. Before they left, Lynnette, knowing Carina's birthday was coming up, suggested they come to the pool again on that day.
"But your birthday is the same day," Carina said. "Aren't you having a party?"
"Exactly," Lynnette said.
Carina figured it out. She loved the idea and she then got one of her own. "What would you think of moving in together after our birthday?"
"As long as it's far from my messy family," Lynnette laughed. "What makes you ask?"
"Well, I don't want to live alone, but I don't want to move in with Malcolm until we get married and I don't really want to get married right after my birthday," Carina explained.
"Good point," Lynnette agreed. "I guess we have a plan then!"
The two friends hugged each other goodbye and went on their way.
At the Vasca household, Kaelyn had achieved the brown belt. Only three more to go before she was got the coveted black belt. Then, she'd be the greatest martial artist in Sunset Valley (as if there was another).
Prom was the next night. Malcolm showed up as he promised, although he was a little less formally dressed than Carina had expected. Not that she cared. She was focused on the great night this was going to be.
Lynnette also came to the prom, but neither she nor her date, Darlene Bunch, were dressed formally.
Sienna met up with Xander at the gym. He had asked her to build a metal sculpture with some scrap he found and she wanted to deliver it to him. She took the opportunity to get to know Xander some more.
It ended in romance.
While everyone was busy, Beau was feeling a little lonely. It was a special night for the little puppy too.
He was growing up!
Just like that, Beau was no longer a tiny pup. Now, he was big and beautiful!
Carina came back from prom, exhausted, but feeling great. She and Malcolm had danced the night away. Someone else won prom queen and king, but they got the vote of cutest couple. The night had been fantastic.
She proudly placed her prom photo on her dresser, next to her pet butterfly. This had been a night to remember.
