Suddenly Missing Store Content

I recently started a new game in BB. I"m redoing the town and spent quite a bit of time in town edit so I'm a little perturbed this morning.

I purchased the new Goth Set and used some of it in one of my houses. Everything was working fine. This morning I started up my game and got the message that some items were missing and had been replaced. I went to my active lot and found that many store items were gone. 

I'm not sure what all is missing but my Sims hair style had been changed, my Steampunk kitchen items were gone and the new Goth items were gone.

I exited the game without saving, started it again and had the same result.

Does anyone have any idea where I should start looking or what what might be the problem?  Haven't added any new mods. Everything is the same as it has been for weeks, with the exception of adding the new Goth set.

Interesting - the same thing happened to me last night except that it was after I bought the June 2011 compilation. Not even Riverview was there and my save files in RV didn't show up in the main menu.  For me I think all my store content was missing with the exception of Hidden Springs. I ended up reinstalling everything that happened to be in the downloads portion of the launcher as well as getting Riverview directly from the store. I still have a lot of missing stuff in my game that I'll have to get directly from the site unless someone comes up with a better idea or a fix of some sort.

I have had that happen a couple of times, now that you guys mention this.  In my case, it was an older game, not that old, but I have the same store content now, plus even more, than I did then.  I will go into a previously played game and says the same thing.  So I am not quite sure what I has been replaced, but it just seems kinda weird to me.

I tried several things but eventually just gave up and did the factory reset. Since I didn't know what might have caused it I downloaded my store items again into the new file. That took a while so I'm not quite ready to start up the game to check it.  When I finally get over being perturbed I'll let you know what happens.

There is actually a small problem that came along a patch or two ago for people because they are trying to stop people sharing downloads from the store.   Now when you download things from the store, it's encrypted a little bit to only work with your account.  So sometimes when you download something new - it or older items will uninstall because for some reason the game doesn't recognize them as yours legally.  Also, you can lose items if your base game is not registers with thesims3.com.  The game that's installed needs to be a game that is considered yours through ts3.com and/or origin.


I had to completely redownload from the website (not the dashboard; wouldn't work) three or four times to get everything into my current version of the game and my launcher still tells me that the last thing I downloaded isn't installed but when I install it "just in case" it's already installed.  The launcher just doesn't recognize this.

I do know downloading everything again was a real pain in the butt. I had 18 pages to do and every few pages the site would kick me out of my purchase history and made me log in again. About half way through it had me do a full log in with my email and pass word. That's never happened before.

Aaargh. Yeah, I'm downloading everything else again now, and I just had to log in again for the 3rd time on the site. Very annoying indeed. Luckily I only have about 5 pages worth, I don't have much patience right now.

So I finally got around to starting my game for the first time since the factory reset. I had a clean game, no mods and only store content.

I found that the first time I started the game when I looked at my buy catalog all the store items were blank. If I sorted by content and chose store content all I had were blank squares. I closed the game and went to the launcher, hit the select all button and then install, again. The launcher ran through the content and eventually told me that the items were already installed.  I opened the game again and it took forever for store items to show up in the buy catalog. Again I found that items were missing. I had to download some items again, including the new Goth set.

I started a game in SV with the Goth family, placed some of the new furniture, the tablet, the rock wall and the crystal ball. Everything seemed to be working alright.  I still have more PC content to test but I'm starting to feel like I should be doing something like lighting candles, chanting or doing some kind of "successful game start dance".
