New fryer warning

Whoa, don't keep this thing out in plain sight in the kitchen! I started a game just to play around with the new items. I had needs static to play and my Sim has done nothing but make himself deep fried goodies. I thought it was because he had nothing else to do, so I bought him a TV, computer, telescope, waterslide and the new tablet. But still he just cooks and eats and now he has really packed on the weight!

Same goes for the ice cream maker.  I constantly have Sims going to it and then the whole house gets the call to eat ice cream like it's a birthday cake or something.

At least now we know how to make Blair Wainwright gain weight!

It seems to be a few problem with the items. Several people at the TS3 site are talking about it. Some Sims can't stay away from them and others are having things like invisible food.

I've noticed that often when Jackson uses it, he gets the red heart above his head for a few seconds lol He really loves his fryer!

We definately see the Sims with the fryer and ice cream maker chubbing up here too.  I was horrified when I realized they were sneaking that stuff and getting fat.  I hope we get pics if anyone sticks one on a community lot.  Your whole town will chub up.  It made me just crack up here thinking about it.

I don't think this is a bug, didn't they hint at the sims getting fat in the store item description?

Am I the only person in here that loves the fact that normaly slim sims can get fat if they overeat of the fried and frozen goodies?
I've really missed the option of making my sims gain a bit of weight by overeating.

I thought of this Pam, so I set needs to dynamic and while Jackson now sits and chats with people on the computer, he is still eating deep fried ice cream fritters for breakfast (and any other meal). I also noticed that his hunger bar only needs to go down slightly and he thinks he has to eat something fried again. After getting out of bed, his bladder bar was really low, yet he still took the time to fry something up and eat it before having to run to the toilet.

According to SimGuruAims' post (and also this one) in a thread at the official thesims3.com forums, previously linked here, this kind of behaviour occurs because using these two objects makes two needs of your sim to go up (hunger and fun), so sims are attracted to them more instead of, say, a TV or a fridge. It seems like there is certain difference between having your sims' needs on dynamic or static in this case. There are mods to stop sims from autonomously using the bacon fryer and the ice cream maker at TFM's Sims Asylum, here for the deep fryer and here for the ice cream maker (note that you need to be registered to see the threads; registration is free). If you are willing to use these, keep in mind that these are tuning mods and shouldn't conflict with any other mod that  doesn't edit the same files.

I put these items in the park in SV and within a few minutes, there was a line a mile long.  I think everyone sensed there was a fryer and ice cream maker and these sims were really impatient to have to wait.  Only problem, hopefull there is a neat sim in the bunch, because they do get dirty quite often.  I put a trash can next to them and a sink.  The fryer finally had the funky green fog, but had no interaction to clean it and when the sims would fix food, they would throw up.  I replaced it and it didn't happen again.  I frequently sent my sim to clean it and empty the ice cream maker.  It is quite humerous to watch these sims with these items on a community lot.  So if you want a laugh, just do this.
