Thanks, Margerita! :) That's awesome! Turns out I can't get it this week and no point anyway because I have exams so I won't be playing, but I will be next week. ;D

Do get it, Fez, you won't be disappointed. I'm one of those people who never buys anything extra but I must say the whole goth/technophobe no more thing is fabulous. EA really did this one right! I couldn't believe the tablet only cost my sim 750. The furniture is also great and very useable. I think I like it better than any stuff pack.

Well, I guess that means you don't even have to have a book case or chess set or even a computer anymore, lol.  So the cost of one of these things pays for itself from the start.  My sims love theirs and I like the fact you can learn the guitar skill on there.  Best purchase ever. :)

Very tempting, but there is no way I'm giving my sims a tablet til I get my ipad. :P I'd be too jealous.

Question about the tablets.  How do you use them, or better yet, how do you know they are working?  I tell my Sim to learn logic on it, she picks it up "presses buttons" and then puts it away (into her pocket) and then stands there.  She has no bar indicating she is gaining skill, nor have I noticed the skill increasing when I look at the skill tab.

What do I have to do for it to work, and how do I know its working?

thanks for any help.
:)

When they use the tablet, they actually put an earpiece in and that pulses red and has a blue circle around their ear. They will have a moodlet too that shows how long until that particular tabcast is finished at which point they will have gained one skill point.
Here is Jackson with the earpiece in listening to a padcast.

Thanks Twinmum!!  I had no idea about the ear piece, I've never seen one.  So I don't think its working.   :'(

Another question... does it only work on grown ups? or does it work for teens/children as well?

I have no experience with kids or teens using them, so I can't say if they can use them or not. I did read an interesting thing on the official site. Apparently (but I can't confirm this) if you don't have the bookshop rabbithole in your town, the tablet will not work for tabcasts. So even though you don't need to physically go to the bookshop to get the books, you still need the building.

I'm playing in Riverview with no changes to the town (except for the game automatically dropping down things like the equestrian center and some showtime places.) So it can't be bookstore problems.  I watched closely to the animation and it seems she goes through the action of putting something on her ear, but nothing is there.  :(  So there is something holding it back.  *grumble*

The only thing I could suggest is to uninstall the new set and re-installing it to see if that helps.

I was afraid of that.  Thanks for your help.  :)

When you buy a book on the tablet you get a physical copy which can be read as normal. Also Tristan Jade had some books in his inventory and other members of the family were able to read those on their own tablets.

Quite a few people are having problems with the set. When I installed it I lost most of my store content. I've had to install the set three times.

Well that sucks.  Also good to know its not just me and my computer, it is other people.  Thanks, I'll get to work uninstalling/reinstalling it.  :)
