Is a Glass Ceiling possible?
« on: April 28, 2012, 10:17:13 PM »
I have been wondering about this. I found a CC that is a complete room that is glass. But I was wondering if it is possible to have a glass ceiling?

I would say that without custom content it's not possible. There are no glass floor tiles made by EA, and even with cheats activated, you can't place windows in floors (well I'm pretty sure you can't). If you are not opposed to CC, then I would suggest doing a search for glass floor tiles. I had some for Sims2, but have not seen any - OK, I haven't actually looked lol , for sims 3.

Hoping they add this with a patch or EP, the amount of times a glass ceiling would have made my build look so much better.. ::)

Fez I would love to have a patio that is totally glass enclosed. I think it would be great for indoor pools and hot tubs

Thanks Twinmum, I also found something at MTS that I found awhile back I totally forgot about. I used it a fews yr back when I first started but didn't know much about how to use the moveobjects on and the cheats that help place things. Now thanks to the lovely ppl here, I know more now and can retry them.  ;D

Is that exercise machine usable under such a low roof?

If it is in the center, probably use that one more for gardening and pool, the square one is better for exercise equipment. i just throw them up to see how they looked.  :-[

If you don't want to use CC the best alternative is to use that tiny fence - it's a wooden edging type thing. And to make it seem like there is supposed to be a skylight or something on the roof. Quite a few modern builders who don't use CC do that method. There is also the raised area around a skylight technique. It provides light to a room below.

I also hope EA make glass tiles at some point, they never did for Sims 2.  :(

I too would like to see EA make a glass floor/roof for Sims 3. There isn;t really a problem with using the fence method, but glass tiles do look better and, if EA bring out an EP with weather, Sims will complain when rain or snow come through that opening  ;D

True, I would love for them to come out with this also. They have so many things they need to catch up on. But we will just have to sit back and wait.  :-\

Since EA owns The Sims Resource, I doubt they will ever make glass tiles for a stuff pack or any of the expansions. Why would they, when they can get independent creators to do it and make money off of them?
