What's wrong with Paperboys?
« on: April 28, 2012, 11:14:09 AM »
I did a search but I can't find anything. What's wrong with paperboys? Reading dynasties and legacies on here there seems to be something wrong with them, and so you guys won't use them for spouses. Sorry if there's already a post for this. I couldn't find it.  :P

A lot of the NPCs such as maids, paperboys and babysitters for instance tend to age up randomly. So one day they could be a child two days later an elder. This is why people tend not to use them for legacies or dynasties as their is a chance your bride to be could end up aging up and not being able to produce children. In the case of dynasties this can really mess things up as you are unable to move them out of the house.

They even age up randomly once they're a part of your family?

Didn't notice that with my butler. My sim married her and she was no different from another townie. Never tried a maid or newspaper sim though.

I've had babysitters and paperboys especially throw me some loops with their ages.   I've had some Sims join the family and as soon as they did they had a birthday and because the game thought it was their birthday they would age up again around 9 that night when sims normally age up.   So a perfectly normal YA can become an elder within one game day just because he joined your house.  There is a glitch like this for pets too.

One way:
Age the paperboy up, then edit him in CAS and he wont age randomly

Also, how can you tell if someone is a paperboy? In dynastys and such people are always saying "oh but he was a paperboy/babysitter" how can they tell if they were if they are teens or YA's?
If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.

When you hover over their pictures in the relationship panel it'll show under career.

This is fine in most games but if you use the CAS cheat in a dynasty it can reset the age bar to the begining of the current lifestage. I have also encountered the aging bug after using this cheat. So for me personally I would not reccomend it.

You can ask a Sim about career it will then tell you what their job is. This is especially useful in decadynasties.

Exactly ratchie, what I am saying is age the child from child to teen and then edit him in CAS with testingcheats, no aging bugs happened this way when my 3rd generation Star rose married this way to a paperboy (not my dynasty)

And of course, Edit in CAS is a cheat, and cheats aren't allowed in Dynasties. ;)

From personal experience, I had a Sim I wanted to marry to a papergirl. He aged to Young Adult. She aged to Adult. I used TestingCheats to age him up. She aged to Elder.
Long story short, I had him go after someone else. ;D

What about LTRs? Isn't there a young again LTR? My sim married a babysitter and he just aged to elder. My sim just aged to YA. If I use the Young again LTR will the elder go back to being a YA and age normally?

Yes he would. The Young Again LTR is a potion, which your sim can also get by making it on the chemistry table if they have level ten logic.

This potion isn't allowed in Dynasties though.
