I don't have it, so no opinions from me, but here's a 17-page thread about Hidden Springs, I'm sure you'll find lots of reviews and pictures there. The thread was started before it was released so you might want to read the later pages for actual player experiences. :)

It's a great neighborhood, but to be perfectly honest it's also one of the buggiest out there. When I first got it, I couldn't go to community lots without my game freezing and crashing - it infuriated me to no end because I felt like I'd flushed twenty plus dollars down the toilet. Some of the patches fixed that for me, but then some of the more recent patches spawned some more bugs, so that I just had to move my legacy family out of that neighborhood...my understanding is that this is a common experience with Hidden Springs right now. I'd approach it with caution.

If your game runs relatively smooth, then it's probably fine; but if you have a history of buggy games, Hidden Springs could be a nightmare. But it is a beautiful town so I *would* say that it's worth it except for the bugs.

I just started playing Hidden Springs 2 days ago. I have experienced no problems so far. But then I never really do; I only have Hidden Springs and the Base Game installed, and one stuff pack. I don't know how it would work if you have a lot of stuff installed. I am really enjoying it, it's a very pretty town.

If you play multiple generations, you're expected to get horrendous lag at about generation three/four. Just about every generational story set in HS written on this forum ended because of this lag, and I think there's only a couple still going. My dynasty is set there, but the second generation is still only a toddler so I'm not near the point to be expecting the lag yet. I just hope I'm one of the lucky ones with it. :(

It's a beautiful town, however. It's my favourite town. I do recommend it, and there have been cases where people have gotten far down the generational line with no problems so it is possible. :)

I was wondering if the power of your computer, the graphic card could be a factor.  I have been having problems with one family constantly freezing up.  My son thinks it could be the fact that my computer doesn't have a lot of umph to it.

Am taking a break from college, working on masters, so didn't need much for game playing.  Generally playing such games as Luxor or Jewel Quest don't require a lot of graphics or power.

Anyhow, could that be a factor?  I am going to get a better video card so I am hoping that helps me.

I doubt the card has anything to do with it. The people who have games with no problems in HS aren't just people with awesome graphics cards. My card is average. In fact, some of the people who's game had to end due to lag had such good graphics that they could play on almost maxed settings, so it doesn't make any sense to assume it's the card. Are you having these problems in Hidden Springs, Janna?

I don't have Hidden Springs yet; was wondering if that could be a cause, as I have considered getting it.  The problem I am having is in Riverview, where my family has grown.  I am noticing it when I have a family over three, and a lot is going on.

Am going to follow the suggestion to save the game in the save as instead of save and quit.  I lost a family due to the freeze up.  In one family, Mom and child just froze, no matter what I tried, quiting, removing everything around them, and a couple of other things, they were frozen.  The maid just walked around them and did the housecleaning.
With the problems that Hidden Springs seems to have I  had wondered if that could be a factor and would become a problem for me when I get it.

I suggest you start a new thread, this thread is about Hidden Springs. If HS is laggy for you, it will only be laggy in that file - not your whole game. :)

This was my experience. My game ran perfectly with no lag until about generation three, and then almost overnight the lag was horrendous.

Off the top of my head, I can think of two other people this has also happened to here on the forum. I wonder what affects it though, because some people (Like Sutz with her dynasty) are doing fine. Probably just random, unfortunately. :-\

I got Hidden Springs and haven't had any problems with it, but to me, it's just another neighborhood, really. However, it is apparently a rich one, so I send my filthy rich sims to live there.
The outside is quiet, but the inside is on full blast.

It is a beautiful town. My sim lives right next to a waterfall and you can see and hear the mist all around. Very pretty. I guess it's up to your personal tastes. There are a lot of pools and gorgeous scenery. The townies are interesting, too.
