but this is an official download, so I am sure it will be fine.

Have you PLAYED the Sims?  :D

Kidding, kidding. It was a cheap shot; I had to take it. I am downloading it, too. Can't wait to see what it's all about! I have a feeling that the first thing I'll try is putting my headshot pictures all over a bedspread or something stupid like that!

19 minutes till it's done downloading...

For me, it's kinda like CAW...too complicated.  I'm the kind of computer user that knows which button to push for the computer to come on and which button on the mouse that "makes it go." :P

I spent the better part of the summer, last year, downloading patterns/objects from the exchange so I have some really awesome patterns in my game I use all the time...that will take the place of making my own.  :)  (I haven't downloaded anything from there for several months...too many bad rumors of corrupted things getting on the exchange.)

Well, I downloaded this today and spent 90 minutes creating three patterns.  Talk about a time sink!  :o

The tool reminds me a bit of the tattoos in-game, because you have the layers.  All it really is is a bunch of little pictures that you put on a big square.  They repeat to make the pattern.  You can layer the pictures, same as the tattoos.  You can also make the pictures larger or smaller.  Finally, you can "preview" to see what your pattern will look like.  Unfortunately, you can't see an example of your pattern on clothes.

There is an 8 pg. PDF help file, but I didn't find it too helpful.  They walk you through making two patterns in the file.

I haven't tried to upload my patterns to the game yet.  I'll let you guys know when I've done that. For all you artistic sims out there with high painting and logic skills, you'll probably fall in love with this thing.

Personally, I decided not to download CAP.  At this time, I am very fortunate that all is good with game play and I have read where a lot of people are having problems and of course alot of people love it.  I had downloaded it to my desktop and really thought about it and went around to see what other people thought.  I have not read much on here about what anyone thinks about it yet.  Maybe I will download it at some point, right now, I am very content at what I do have in my game.  I know a few downloaded it here, so if you did, what is your opinion?

Ha, I forgot that I had downloaded this. I just went and installed it just then. Off to go and have a play around with it. I'll report back with my opinion later... if I can work out how to use it - I might have to resort to reading the documentation :o

Nope, I don't like it.

I tried to recreate a wallpaper I made for TS2 but the way this works is you put an image (sticker) on the canvas and it just repeats it. The main problem is the largest sticker you can use is 256 x 256 pixels. This is fine for the width (256 pixels would be one section of wall) but a wall from floor to ceiling is 768 or thereabouts, so when you put a 256 x 256 sticker in place, when you apply it to a wall, it will repeat itself three times up the wall. That's ok if you just want a standard pattern, but as soon as you put something like a base board, ceiling cornice or heaven forbid, a mural, then that will be repeated up the wall. What it needs is the ability to change the canvas size to suit walls.

I can't see me using this too often because of that shortcoming.

BTW, this is part of a set I did for TS2... I was trying to recreate the basic wall for the set, which was just the white baseboard and the pink and white vertical stripes, but with this tool I ended up with 3 white stripes across the wall >:(

Ahhhh.  Another technologically challenge person!  So happy to know that!  Tonight I conquered the pattern maker.    Ok, ok.  My 14 year old conquered it and then showed me and I STILL can't do it right.  LOL  Fortunately the 14 year old lives with me so I'm safe.  (But I spell better and can pronounce more words than she can, so haha.)

Which is where I was the second time I used it; trying to do the math to make it come out the way I wanted to. I tried to perform the calculations in the worst of all places: my head.

I've noticed that what look like vertical stripes on patterns come out horizontal and vice versa. Did you try that? Though obviously that doesn't solve the length of wall/repeat to fill issue.

I must say I was in serious danger of engaging in exclamation abuse when I saw what you made. Not my style, but wow! I've never created anything that elaborate on a computer! My first two CAP projects were obviously suited to repeat, but tonight I did one that, aside from poor color choices, is (I hope) a little more free-form looking. Is there a venue here to get feedback, or am I forgetting the Forum Rules too quickly? I might be able to upload them to photobucket, but then, if it's allowed, I'm not sure how to get them into a post. I've only done that with the Sims 3 site forum and there I had to cut them down because of size. I don't think that will be an issue with CAP images; assuming I'm allowed to put them up at all.

I don't know if I'm making sense, so I think it's time I'm off to sleep the sleep of the truely knackered; buenos noches!

I discovered the answer to one of my questions and will keep looking for the others. I'm sure they're there. I hope you excuse the rantings of a newbie and I thank you for your patience.

Hello There...I'm very new here...
Well I'm usually very bad with these tools (and with the english language, so please excuse me) but surprisingly the CAP it's really easy to use and to import images to use in the tool. Is a matter to expend some time to learn to use it. The only thing I really miss is an object duplicator and a "aligment" tool.

Greetings from Mexico
Adios.

Welcome to our Forum, adavid!

I've got CAP downloaded, but haven't messed with it yet.  I'll probably enjoy it once I get started and learn it.

I'm not sure if I like this tool or not. It's definitely simple to use, and I definitely want more patterns, but the selections they give you to work with are a bit slim. Maybe they will release more patterns for it or maybe someone will make some?

When they first released this I really thought it would be the sort of thing you would be able to put your own patterns into, as in finding something on the internet and putting it into CAP.
