After a regrettable purchase, I was wishing that someone here would write reviews of premium content from the store. Then it dawned on me that I'm someone here (actually, I'm Sim-one-2-3 here...)
If you buy your sims the sprinkler because you enjoy giving them objects that draw them inexplicably and nearly obsessively into behavior with little to no benefit, then the Frost-Bite Pro Ice Cream Machine and the Sizzle Baby Pro Deep Fryer are the objects for you. At 500 points each, you may expect a couple of neat toys that give your sims a moodlet at least comparable to the great meal moodlet from eating normal prepared meals. Instead, your sim will stuff his face with ice cream and bacon. Your sim is willing to trade an 8 hour Incredible Meal buff of up to +75 mood for a 4 hour +20 comfort food buff. This is not an improvement, to say the least.
And when I say that the sims will stuff their faces, I'm not kidding. They are fascinated by these appliances in the same way as and to even a greater degree than the sprinkler. The ice cream machine periodically gets filthy and can't be upgraded to self-cleaning, so you'll need to stay on top of that. Plus they take up a counter each, which would be only a minor annoyance if they gave a nice buff or skill boost, but as it is, it's adding just one more inconvenience to an already sub-par object.
Overall, for me, this was a waste of $10.00. I sold the ones I had and haven't missed them. The only reason I haven't uninstalled them is that they might be useful for an architect in home makeovers for natural cooks.
