Toddlers Waking at Night?
« on: April 24, 2012, 09:11:00 PM »
The first few times this happened, I thought I'd missed something, but it just happened again after a period of not happening, so I guess I'm not seeing things.  Does anyone else have toddlers wake randomly at night?  Just now my sim put her toddler daughter to bed.  The girl was very tired and fell asleep right away.  Mom finished making and eating dinner and went in to empty the potty and the girl woke up.  This isn't the first time this has happened with this child.  At least once she's fallen asleep only to awaken almost immediately.  She does not have light sleeper for a trait.  None of my other toddlers ever have behaved this way.  It's a little annoying since I usually manage to keep my toddlers on a schedule that keeps parents and kids happy, but it involves getting enough sleep!  This save file is completely free of mods as well.  Is this normal?

I've seen toddlers wake up if there's another baby in the room crying or something else that's making noise.

Neither is the case here.  The two are the only humans in the home and the mother's bedroom adjacent to the nursery is locked so no one else may come in.  The furnishings are the crib, the potty, a bookcase and the xylophone.  Only the xylophone could make noise, but only with the toddler using it, not while she's in her crib.  This last time her waking seemed to coincide with her mother entering the room; I wasn't observant enough on the other occasions to notice if that were true then also.

Edited to add: She definitely just did it again the next night.  This time, her mother put her in the crib and walked out of the room.  She got two rooms away before the little girl popped back up.  It's definitely not tied to someone entering.  At least this time it happened right away, so she's still sleepy and will fall back asleep quickly.

Edited again to add: And again.  Mom cleaned the bathroom and popped back in to empty the potty.  The girl had just laid back down and popped up as soon as her mother walked by.  While not entirely unrealistic, a toddler that doesn't want to go to bed, it's not as if she or I can argue with her red energy bar.

Sometime grown  Sims will pop out of their beds, too, for no apparent reason.  Have you tried replacing the crib?  And resetting the baby?

I did replace the crib when it started, using an entirely different crib, but that hasn't made any difference.  She's been reset, but I don't recall if that was before or after the waking, so I'll try that next time I get in there to play with them.

I know you said your file is free of mods, but what of CC? I had a crib that. I can't remember when or where I got it. But every time mom or dad got near the toodler would just "pop" up.

No, I have no CC furniture.  Only a couple CC items at all.
