Romantic Reputation

Does anyone know what exactly it matters? I mean if my sim has a bad reputation will other sims not want to be romantically involved or will it not make a difference? I did a quick search but didn't find an answer so if it is out there please link me to it. What I really want to know is if my sim has several romantic interests will it be harder to get more?

I looked up 'reputation' on the wiki - that was helpful. It is harder for them to have a romantic relationship if they have a bad reputation. If they get the cassanova reputation though, they go instantly from friends to good friends with people of their romantic gender choice.
