Almost died because of a baby :D
« on: October 12, 2009, 03:40:43 PM »
Last night my sim was giving a birth to her daughter and my other sim was cooking.  He set the kitchen on fire when he had to take the other sim to the hospital, lol.  But everything was fine after that.  He almost died because all his needs went right down.

I don't think your Sim would have died from his needs going down.  The hunger need can cause them to starve to death, but it takes a long time for that to happen.  The other needs don't cause death, just misery.  They will eventually pass out on the floor from lack of sleep, but they don't die.  Unless someone has had a different experience?

If a Sim could die from no sleep, I would have accomplished that by now between TS2 and TS3,  I'm just talented that way  .....
but no I haven't had them die from lack of sleep.  Just my inept playing skills causing the ahem....
accidental death or two!

Happy Simming!

Well, in Sims 2 they could die from low needs if they saw a ghost but I haven't yet found anything that will drop their needs like that in this game.

Dang.  Really PJSim?  I've never played anything but Sims 3 so I have no idea what the other games would do.  They died from their needs getting low?  I've had a couple of Sims that got in the red on everything, but they didn't die.  Their overall meter was all the way down to red, too, and they were "miserable."  All they needed was sleep, food, a shower, fun, etc.

Yeah, back then they were more afraid of ghosts I guess. When they saw a ghost most or all (don't remember exactly) of their needs would drop instantly and if they were already low they would die of fright! :o Same thing if they saw a ghost a second time before you could get their needs up. I lost a few sims that way. :'(

But I haven't come across anything that will drop a lot of needs fast in this game so I don't think that can happen anymore.

Wait a couple weeks. I'm sure our Sims will be able to die of fright if they are going to go tomb raiding.

I have found in the sims 3 some sims just faint from fright before they die...which is way funnier.  :D

Hello Pam.
I'm JeffGuy's friend, and I don't have an account on your site so he said I could use his. (he's sitting right next to me)
To tell the truth, I have actually had a Sim die from levels getting to low (and not through starvation) my sim had a lot near a graveyard, and sometimes ghosts wandered over to his house to surf the web.
Anyway, he got married and had a little boy named Jefferrey. Jefferrey grew up and was alone in the house one night when the ghosts came over.
He had the coward trait, and as soon as one walked into the living room and turned on the TV, Jefferrey fainted.
Only thing was, his body vanished, the grim reaper appeared, and a tombstone appeared in the driveway. No ghost, but his parents and his adopted sister go the Tombstone Moodlet.
And sometimes he comes over to the house, but the strange thing is, every time he's a different type of ghost and once he was even in the fleshy form of a Sim, but he was still floating.
Spooky.

Hello JeffGuy's friend. That sounds like a glitch, or maybe a random sims event EA put in there?

I never played sims2 but I played all the sims1 expansion packs. Sims1 was so difficult to play compared to Sims 3. My main issue would be the social bar would drop low and all they would do is stand in one spot and cry because they were depressed. If I tried to get them to do something, like go eat a pop up would appear saying they're too depressed to do that right now. And after a while the grim reaper would eventually come for them! Used to frustrate me no end.

This time it's JeffGuy.

My friend showed me his video footage, and I e-mailed it to a friend at EA. (DO NOT ASK ME TO SEND SUGGESTIONS TO HIM!) :)
He e-mailed me back and said he'd given it to the tech guys and he mailed me back a day later and they said they had no idea what it was and it definitely wasn't a glitch (apparently they do three months of testing to see about any glitches)
So kind of weird.
And I have to admit, its pretty weird especially when the ghost comes floating onto the lot, but it looks like he's eaten Ambrosia and he's back in human form, just gliding and passing through walls.
NO IDEA!

Jeff. H

Yep, in Sims2 if they had 3 needs fall into failure status due to an event (like getting electrocuted or catching on fire) they would in fact pass on.  The ghost would represent the means to the end, not the need failure.
