Can a single sim make enough money to support himself and a child?

I've never played a fisherman as a means of being the only income. But I do know that death fish can sell for a lot, so if you quickly get to a level high enough to catch some, then stock a pond on your lot, I'm pretty sure you could easily catch enough each day to support two Sims.

Once you have at least 10 of the same fish, you can click on a pond and see the "Stock Pond" option.  Your Sim will then throw the 10 fish into the pond and you can fish them back out again in unlimited quantities.

If you stock a pond with deathfish, can you only fish them back out between 12-5am?

No, if you stock a pond with deathfish, you can fish for them any time
