Just to give a bit of an update, I'm now on the fourth generation using these rules and so far it's really fun! The only snaggle I've run into was in moving gen 2 into his new house while his house was full to the brim I ended up using edit town mode to merge households... but that's easily avoided once you know that it's really important not to fill up your house completely or if you do, realize that you'll be stuck until someone dies!
It certainly adds a lot of variety! My 4th gen heir just moved into her new house only to find out she married into a family of explorers. Her new family members included her husband the budding photographer, his sister who wants to be a Great Explorer, and the sister has a child aged daughter. Should be interesting since my heir wants to have 5 kids. Oy! Oh, and of course they only have a two bedroom house. It's gonna get crowded!
