Can Pets Run Away?

Can the pets run away in the Sims 3?  I've heard they can but I'm not completely sure.  I take good care of my pets on the sims!  Also, this is a little offtopic of the question, but I will never forget the expression of utter terror when my teenage sim first galloped on a horse!  She's a horsewoman now!   Also, can horses run away, or is it just dogs? And if they can run away, if your skill level is high enough can you get them again as a wild horse?  Also, sorry about this add on, but, this is my first thread!Yay!

I have never had a pet run away and I haven't heard they can. I don't think it's possible, but really, I'm uncertain.

Thanks.  I was just wondering because I know that they can go off the lot without their owners and once it said that I should give the dog attention before it needed to find another home.  I didn't know whether that meant that the social worker was going to take it away or that it was going to run away.  But now, I'm definatly leaning toward the social worker coming to take it away.

Probably the social worker. Since you can travel the town without loading, it would be kind of hard for pets to run away.

Never had a horse run away; though I may force my ornery unicorn to go back to the wild!
