What's the hardest skill to max out?

Inventing. How I hate that skill, though I still have fun playing inventors. Even ignoring the catching on fire and low profit, it seems to take forever for an inventor to skill up. Compare that to sculptors, who can max out the skill with a couple weeks of hard work (and have a huge profit!).

Charisma's the hardest if you're not abusing parties/guitar playing/performing for tips as a showtime profession. Not to mention that it's really not worth leveling it past 1 as the easy friendship thing comes from challenges and not skill. If you're not abusing parties/guitar/performing then it's inventing, easily. Sure you can just skill book your way to 10 but the real issue is if you decide not to do that and instead babysit your sim to make sure he has a way to put himself out when he inevitably sets himself, and possibly the house, on fire.

Now hardest skill to supermax, that's debatable. Some say instruments, others say photography.

In terms of simply maxing, I'd say Photography or Inventing. They're not really that hard per se, just very tedious unless you just power through with skillbooks (which is harder to do with Photography since they're not in the library). Plus, I lost money on most every shot with the expensive camera for a long time. With Inventing, it's both the risk of fire and the constant need for scrap that are tiresome for me.

Supermaxing? Instruments. Some other skills are hard and time-consuming, too, but with these you're just so utterly dependent on opportunities which in turn are way too random and luck-based. It's like it isn't my planning and playing that determines success, but the whims of the RNG. As much as I like music, it's not something I'd dare to tackle in a normal-lifespan challenge game.

Oh the different skills I have played, I agree that Inventing is one of the harder to level up in, and harder to supermax, as you can be sitting there waiting forever to discover a new invention.  I personally find Charisma easy, particuarly when combined with a skill like sculpting or painting, where  you can get an oppertunity to make x paintings/sculptures, take them to a rabbit hole, and get a big friendship boost with the people working there.

To max it's definitely my least favorite, but to supermax nothing gets close to photography.

I love photography - it can be maxed within 24 Sim hours with a good plan, but to supermax it - it's one of the challenges I haven't done yet in Sims, and I agree, nothing gets close to it.

Even supremacist instruments is a piece of cake compared to photography. Maybe supremacist them all is still easier.

Definitely photography. I don't know HOW many times I tried to take pictures of romance in foreign countries, only to have it say "these are my 2 friends". Gave up on photography.

I think that the hardest is logic. By the time you are at level 7 it seems like it is taking longer to make your sim get the next skill level.

If you have the Multi-Tab 6000, and it has a tabcast for a skill - I would say they are no longer difficult to max because they can do so much other things while listening to a tabcast.

I'd say Charisma is hardest to max, since you need to have X number of friends to level up. Not hard, per se, but annoying.

Photography's tabcasts will always take less than an hour to skill you up too. You can max photography in less than a sim day with that thing.

Depends on if they have the photographer's eye trait.  Sometimes it takes a couple of hours but still doable.  I had a teen Sim in my dynasty learn 9 points of guitar in 5 days and that included going to school, homework, socializing and the prom.  Not to mention, she never picked up a guitar.  Don't have one in the house.. yet.

Photography is the most irritating to level up, because rather than leaving the sim doing one activity like you do in pretty much all other skills, you have to take the pictures and it takes a while of repeatedly doing "take photo, pause, position camera, take picture, repeat". It's a lot more hands on which can be more fun, but the monotony is rather annoying in my opinion.

Charisma is difficult for the friend requirements if you go for leveling it via books. However, if you just level it through making the friends you need (and 20 friends is useful for not getting decay any longer), then it's pretty easy.

Otherwise... pretty much all skills are easy to level up. Some take longer than others (sculpting takes longer than painting, from what I see. That's more the problem of very few townies having savvy sculptor, however).

Supermaxing... Photography or any of the instruments is hardest. Photography because of all the collections you're trying to find, and I also find finding enough strangers to get the stranger photos tricky. Instruments because of the bug with the performing at parties challenge.
