Torn Between Pets and Ambitions
« on: April 16, 2012, 04:16:48 AM »
Now I am thinking of getting another expansion pack, as i am a little bored of just the base game and Generations.
I've narrowed it down to two EP's.
It is either Ambitions or Pets.

I would like to have your feedback on which EP you prefer and maybe the pros and cons of the EPs.
I hope I'm not asking too much!  :)

"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" -Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

DS Ben Jones: I appreciated your trust over the Masons thing.
DCI Tom Barnaby: Trust, Jones, is something hard to win, easy to lose, and never to be taken lightly.
Jones: William Shakespeare, sir?
Barnaby: No! Thomas Barnaby.

I think it's fairly straightforward, either you want pets or you don't. Ambitions is a very well-rounded expansion pack that gives you a lot more options for developing Sims. If I were to pick one between the two that would be my choice. If you don't mind spoilers we have good general rundowns of both expansion packs' additions:

Ambitions | Pets

Hope this helps :)

This topic comes up quite frequently and really, there is no answer. Everybody has an opinion as to what EP is best. I suggest you do some research here on the guide about each EP.

Also, have you gone into EB Games (Australia) lately? At the moment they have a sale on where selected items are buy one, get one free and I"ve seen all but Showtime on the table.
Have you read the Forum Rules?

Only thing I can add to what Carl and Twinmum said is, if you have a integrated graphic card, you might want to save up for a better graphic card before getting Pets. Otherwise the major pets (unicorns, horses, dogs and cats) will be deformed. I had that problem which was solved with a new graphic card.

It depends how you feel about Pets. I'm an animal lover, I couldn't live without Pets in real life, so I was overjoyed when TS3 announced this pack. It is, without a doubt, my favorite.

Ambitions however, is a brilliant expansion pack, and you get a lot for what you're paying for - some fun new jobs and loads of things that really do expand the game further.

I don't think I could live without either of them now. But, if I had to choose it would be Pets!

I've got to say, if there's a topic that comes up the most on these forums, it's people wondering what EPs to get! :o

My personal favourite from the two is Ambitions, but I'm not really a pet person in real life anyway and I rarely play with pets in the game. I still think they are both awesome expansions. Really depends on your personality and what you want to do in the game. Ambitions broadens your career options and adds so many new features, and Pets is well.. pets. :P These are probably the two most popular and most liked EPs so there's clearly a big liking taken to them both. Just go for what interests you more, and of course check out the guide sections on both EPs linked above.

I'd say pets, not just for the pets though. Appaloosa plains is a beautiful town that's got unique buildings.

Thank you for telling me about the sales for EB Games! I might then get both...
I do have a dog in real life, and I absolutely LOVE her! So I am an animal lover :)

I think I have a good graphics card on my computer.

Thank you so much everyone for all of your feedback. If I would to choose one I would get Ambitions, as it is a well-rounded expansion.
I have also read both expansion reviews/ walkthroughs by Carl on the main website.
And again I really appreciate your feedback! :)
