I did find out, that when I first got sims2, I didn't have cut scenes.  My sister did though and I kept asking her what she meant when she tried to explain them to me.  After I got a new computer, I found out what she was talking about.  I finally had the cut scenes.  I guess I didn't have enough memory on the old computer for the scenes.  I don't think I ever got tired of them. :)

Yeah, Maxis is back, so I think maybe Sims 4 will bring back the old Pleasantview, Strangertown and Veronaville type of story lines and family trees. Maxis had so much imagination back then. Since Rod Humble is no longer in charge or with the franchise, (he was either fired or left after a disagreement with the Ambitions EP, someone want to clarify that for me in PM?) and Maxis is no longer working on Spore, I expect the TS2 humor back in full speed next generation.

Speaking of which, was it Seasons or Free Time? Either EP, I miss Rod Humble going around giving my Sims a free computer where we could play TS3 for free. ;D (Not the real one of course. ;))

What I miss from the old games...
« Reply #272 on: July 16, 2013, 07:51:24 AM »
I don't know if I'm supposed to post this here, I'm not yet entirely sure of how this site works, but I'm trying to understand it the best I can.
My first language isn't english btw, so I apologize in advance if I've typed something wrong.

Anyways, something that I really miss from the older games, and that really annoys me 'cause they haven't made it for the sims 3 is the option to make your own restaurant, or dining at one. I know there are rabbitholes for that, but I miss the fact that you could go into a restaurant and go up to the cash register and order, and then you would be given a table and stuff.
And the ability to go shopping for clothes.

I know that with the University Life EP there came this sort of cash register thing that sells coffee and and brownies and things like that, and that's the closest thing to a "real" restaurant that I can get with my game, but for me it isn't enough.

I really wish the creators would create a cash register or ANYTHING that lets us open our own restaurants, or just one cash register in general, that has several options in them (for example, if I press shift i can chose it to be a cash register for a restaurant, or a shop where they sell clothes and so on)

Does anybody else miss these features? Is there any way to somehow forward this request to the creators so that maybe they can create this kind of cash register or anything like it? Maybe as a premium content object?
Is there a mod for this?

I really want it in my game, and any help what so ever from anyone would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, Boo!

There's a thread over here where others have talked about the past Sims games. You might find something there that may interest you.

Hello Boo.

There is another similar thread, perhaps one of the mods will merge this.  But, it's nice to have it brought back to life.

I, too, liked "In Business", it was easily my favourite as it gave so much flexibility in play.  My favourite business was a Makeover Salon.  I would put in a couple of makeover chairs and a couple of clothing racks (depending on the size of my family) and smarten up the whole town, except when the makeovers went wrong and I then had to work at getting them to return to the shop to get it put right. :).  I would also have a flower shop, a restaurant, a toy shop, and a couple of hang-outs where sims paid for the privilege of using your swings, hot tubs, pool etc.

I thought that having a Resort might provide something similar, but, sadly it falls short.

The item I miss most has to be the simple utility robot from sims 1.  2 wasn't too bad as you could power them down when not wanted and they required only short regular periods in the sun to keep them going.  Though, I hated their preoccupation with preparing meals even when no meals were required!  I simply hate the sims 3 robot, or rather "alternative human life form".

Welcome to our Forum, Boo.  And thanks for the link, Audren.  I'll merge the two threads.

As for the subject of this thread, Sims 3 only has one more expansion pack left to go.  There will continue to be Store content added and, who knows, maybe they will bring something like this before Sims 3 is finished.  There's just not much time left for new stuff for Sims 3.

Edit:  Well, my goodness!  I was browsing the Sims 3 site and found that there is brand new Store Premium Content that looks like it will do exactly what you want, Boo!  Business as Usual Bistro

I was just going to suggest taking a look at the new Bistro available.  A sim can own it and hire a chef to cook for you and serve.  Not quite the same as OFB was but looks interesting.  I just bought it and am going to give it a try now.
