I also enjoyed Sims 2 University! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I loved how you could send sims off to uni and they would learn skills there, start their careers at a higher level and so on. I tried playing it again about 3 months ago, I didn't find it interesting. Maybe this was because of my age at the time of playing S2.

Speaking of consoles, Sims 2 on the Wii is the worst thing of ever.  The controller is just too awkward.  I ended up with cartoon steam coming out of my ears.

Open for business was a good one too.  I remember having the simbots open a restaurant and they did such a good job.  If their energy went down, just send them outside to get some sun, it was such a hoot.  I had the best luck with opening a business along side a house and having my sim work on the ceramics.  She made a ton of money, more profit in that profession.  Sewing was pretty good too, just too bad they couldn't wear the clothes they made, at least mine couldn't. :)

Am I the only person that didn't care for University? I actually thought sending Sims off to UNI and playing with it was really boring. Maybe it's the frivolousness in me, but the only reason why I would ever keep it installed was because of the cow plant.

Like, all my Sims went to class, and I had absloutly nothing to do, and the same thing over and over again. Maybe because I was only a teenager at the time, and never got into the college scene.

As a whole, I thought University was average. The classes are boring, at least to me. I've only been playing them as the alien slacker who couldn't care less about his classes.  ;D (This may not bode well for my own college years...)

Everyone has their reasons for liking or not liking a game.  Yes, it was boring and I thought they would never graduate, lol.  Maybe it does have something to do with age, not sure, but we know what we like and it is a preference.  I would imagine, that younger people, that are in college themselves might find it boring, maybe for us older folks, it is something that some of us never really did.  I went to a technical school and it wasn't boring, but different people see these games different ways.

I will say, I do miss the "firsts" scenes in sims2, like first kiss, first woohoo and when the kids graduated, it would always go into that slow motion screen.  I can't remember what it is called, but you guys should remember it. :)

I am not a hopeless romantic. In fact, I have the opposite trait. But I loved the first kiss animation, especially on my favorite couple, Dustin Broke and Angela Pleasant. In fact, I always got devastated when I saw how many people broke them up. (Yeah, yeah, I know, everyone plays differently...  ;D)

I Loved University: The first challenge was to get some young sims (usually four in four different families) to the point where they each had a huge scholership fund.  Then I would build a nice little student house on campus (with swimming pool and all mod cons and they would all move in together.

Seasons was lovely, the snow days, gardens littered with autumn leaves, indoor and oudoor clothing, so realistic.  That gardening challenge to earn the wishing well was a really tough one.  You had to judge calling the inspectors just right or a fallen leaf or a random sprout on a hedge would ruin your chances.

Open for business was a great idea.  I often started my sim with a basic house, put in a small swimming pool, a swing and of course a TV and  music, then openned my house for business.  Half the neighbourhood would pay to watch TV in my front room, or swim in my miniscule pool or use my swing.  Making friends was easy this way and you had a quaranteed income while you lounged, socialised and studied.   You even earned money from your lot while at work or sleeping.   As their wealth increased I added more attractions and increased my charges accordingly.

Cinematics, I think they were called? I never had those on my old Desktop -- too ancient, I guess. ;D I couldn't install TS3 on it -- I didn't have Pixel Shader 2.0. When I installed it onto my laptop last year, I played a bit and got my first ever cinematic -- wow, that was cool!!

I'm not much into cheating, but a bit of manipulation now and again, that I can do!

I found that wishingwell very tricky, so, I took a sim I no-longer wanted, who owned the well, and Um, dare I say it, let him/her have a wee accident, so that the home, and the well, were left behind on an uninhabited lot.  You could then edit the lot until it was affordable by a new sim, move your family in to put the well in their inventory and then moved them to the lot you wanted.  The problem in Sims 2 was that when you moved a family out, any posessions left behind just disappeared, but if they died, everything was left behind.  But, once you had a lot with a well, all you had to do was save it to the bin for multiple reuse.  Actually, with the new moving system, there's no need for the accident if you wanted to make a "gift lot".  Fill the bookcase, stuff a chest, I guess you could leave a fortune behind and, bookcase and chest items would not register in the lot price.  But, moneymaking and aquiring special items is so easy in sims3 that it would, imo, spoil the game.

There was another little trick, rather a nasty one, that I did occassionally.  I found babies, a pain, and adopting children was very hit and miss, so, I would make a single mother and the child I wanted.  Move them to any horrible home and then have mother neglet the child so that it was taken by child services.  When ready to adopt, the child would be the one offered for adoption. :o

There was a beauty in Sims one too.  If you made a sim, and left all their trait slots empty (negative), then bought the chemistry table as soon as you moved in, there was a potion that reversed all traits which you could usually get after 3 or 4 attemps, hey presto 100% positve traits;  No, grumpy, lasy, bad tempered sims!

Twin1 and I were talking about the older Sims games toady and we could remember the lawn flamingos making a noise when you kicked them over, but we couldn't remember if it was in Sims 1, 2 or both. Can someone enlighten us?

I don't have to miss anything. I still play sims 2. I don't play as much as I would like to though, it's on my laptop. I mostly play TS3 now as I work on my legacy but once in a blue moon I can still go back and play TS2. There are things I love about both.

I don't know how to make a banner or I would. I have a sim legacy story if anyone would like to check it out *whistles*

Same here. I love playing Sims 2 every once in awhile when I get sick of Sims 3. I'm taking a break from both, but now I want to play Sims 2. I need alienware at this point to play Sims 3.

Twinmum, it might have been Sims 2.
