Hearing people talk about playing Sims 1 and 2 as little kids makes me feel old, old, old.  I remember Sim City!

My fondest memories of the Sims 2 was playing the Curious brothers. They were literally the only pre-made family I played, and I would play them for hours. Those male pregnancies made me laugh when I was 8 and still does now. But sadly, I uninstalled it so I could have extra space.

I have a 32bit, and I still manage to have all that extra space. I actually sacrificed all my SP's (except for KPST), WA and Ambitions, so I can play SN. Until I can get more RAM.

@jeanamariex3 I agree with you that it's a shame there's not much to do if you don't want to go adventuring in WA.  I never get bored of adventuring but it's not much of a honeymoon to get electocuted and cursed!

Sadly, if WA was supposed to be the vacation expansion for Sims 3, it was a bit of a disappointment with the open neighborhood. I honestly expected my Sims to stay at a hotel and relax. Maybe if Seasons isn't the last expansion, a real vacation EP should be in the works. I hope it's not University, and I'm surprised how much demands for it EA gets a day.

Come to think of it, Uni should've came later in Sims 3,  mainly because of the open neighborhood, and better autonomous doing their homework immediately, but I still would only buy it for that one little object (sadly, I only got University for the Cow Plant, glad TS3 had it in the store, not about to waste 40 dollars for one little EP item again). Time Travel, in Ambitions, should have been worked out in Sims 2 because of the close neighborhood, and we could actually see the Sims interacting in the past and future. So they could see themselves as children, or even create another neighborhood TSM style.

I really liked the University EP in Sims 2.  That it was completely separate from the town it was attached to wasn't bad.  I might be a sucker for realism, but that really was realistic.  College and the community it creates are nothing like the outside world!  I loved the chance for a sim to establish relationships, gain skills and earn a little money before sending them out into the world.

That said, I really wonder if we'll ever see it for TS3.  1) We already have the YA life stage.  Would they add another?  Start YA and you could go off to college until X moment in time?  2) How would it work with an open neighborhood?  You'd have to leave your active family behind to survive on their own.  That's something I can't see a lot of players going for.

Still, just like the real thing, I thought it was a blast.  It could go a little slowly at times (also realistic), but overall I enjoyed it.   :)

University was a dud. My fellow Simming coworkers and I at Sears actually had a discussion around the release of Showtime, and we all were in mutual agreement about the worst EP Sims ever came up with and it happened to be: University.

I said I only liked it for the cow plant, of course. I'm not much into realism. Even if I were to raise a realistic family, there has to be something thrown into the picture that isn't a part of real life.

@Jeanamariex3, I never bothered with University.  It looked a bit blah.  I would have liked to have some of the build features and some of the odds and ends.  Same with Apartment Life.  I don't know about the cow plant... I shall look it up.

Errr, I have something that might make you feel just a little older....are you ready?....I wasn't alive when sims 1 came out.(that was 2001 right?)  I was alive when the sims 2 came out though.( so don't worry, I'm not a sim playing 5 year old!)  Only, when that came out, I didn't know it existed.  The only thing in the sims that I've ever known is the sims 3.  Sorry, just felt the need to make you feel a tad older.

Don't worry about making us feel old!  If anything, I'm glad I'm "old" and got to experience all the excitement of each new game and EP.  Other than food and maybe my car, I've gotten more enjoyment for my dime out of Sims than anything else I've ever done.

Hear, hear!

To which I would only add, without my interest in Sims I would never have found this community full of helpful and friendly people.  :)

I don't feel old at all, even though I played sims1 and 2.  I had every expansion for both, just like sims3.  I happened to like University, maybe because of my age, not sure.  It just seemed more realistic, kids grow up, send them to college, kids go back to the same neighborhood they grew up in and started their adult life and the fact that they started out with more money, because of going to college, made it that much more real.  I admit, playing the sims in college, did get a little boring at times, but I thought it was a very good expansion pack.  I hope it makes it back in sims3. :)

Salty, I agree - I enjoyed University too.  Especially the way the graduates were able to start at a higher career level and there were careers that were only open to the ones who had been to University - as you say, it seemed much more realistic.

I also had a lot of fun with Open for Business.  It was such fun planning what my Sims would carry in their shop, selling things, and dealing with staffing and the other issues related to the day-to-day running of a business.  I'd sure love to see something like that in Sims3.

LOL I played TS1, TS2, and Sim City, and I'm only going to be 23, although, I was 10 when TS1 came out, and would only be the appropriate age in late 02, near the end of Sims 1.  :P Still, I had fun memories, playing with family friends, and I think I got bored with The Sims (Original) at the time, and perhaps frustrated, because, well, I was only 10-10 1/2 when I first played the game, and the needs were so low so fast. Sims 2 I remember it being better because of Aliens. I played both console and PC, but my earliest (positive) memory was on the PC. By then, I was fresh into young adulthood.

I rather enjoyed University, though perhaps it was more to due with my alien's constant partying than any amount of learning. :P

I also had the Sims 2 on the Playstation 2. (still do, though I haven't played it in years) I loved how you could simply make aliens, instead of having to do the cheats for the PC version. (sensing a trend?  ;))

Audren! I did it all the time with my (now 15) year old twin cousins! I was about 14-18 at the time, but my cousins were single-early double digits. My peer cousin did too. My sister sat and watched, but I got her addicted to TSM later on.  :P
