Reminiscing - The Sims and The Sims 2

Yeah it was. You know what I don't miss, is the fact that the voices were all basically the same, and that I had to search literally four hours to find a skin tone (I liked unconventional ones and normal ones), that still had an EA face. Now I'm glad Sims 3 gave that to me, because I don't like it when Sims have realistic faces and glowing skin, that make them look like plastic Barbie dolls.

I just inherited a bunch of Sims 2 games from a friend who didn't want them, and they're quite fun! I love my alien slacker. How he's managing to pass college by going to class all of once a semester is beyond me.  I can't put all the EPs in, since I don't have enough room, but the ones I have are great! All of my Sims living in the same version of Strangetown a little weird, but it's not that much of an issue.

I think I'm done with TS2 right now, I only play it when I'm impatient about TS3, and want to relive the old TS2 memories, ya know! I went back around Generations, because I missed playing it with my cousins, and wanted the aliens. Then went back a second time when I realized how much I needed a new graphics card, as my pets were distorted in TS3, and again to calm myself for the Seasons release, and SN, but now with the new patch, I have all the skins I want! So I'm back to playing TS3.

I played both but I can only remember Sims 2.
Things that I miss about it:

The Cheats - the Tombstone of Life and Death especially.
The Holidays (Bon Voyage) - none of this stupid adventure stuff. Just a proper holiday for your Simies
Plantsims (Seasons) - I remember spawning them and installing millions of lights in their houses
ALIENS - who doesn't miss their male Sims being abducted and giving birth to alien babies?

I have to say, TS3 is the best of the three even though i enjoyed the first two, its nice to have seen how much the game has changed over the years

Oh my, Sims 2 was such fun. I can't remember whether it was Sims 1 or 2 that my cousin had, but I was pretty young when I had my first sims experience. My cousin had the game up, made them woohoo and whatnot, and when he wasn't looking I bought a bunch of steroes and stuck them all over the house, can't remember why. He had University on the console at some point, let me play that for a while. Those experiences stuck with me for a while, and eventually I begged my mom to get me Sims 2 deluxe. I loved killing people in fires and playing the Goth family. I didn't even know Sims 3 was out until they came out with Ambitions, bought the Deluxe that came with it and the base game. I still don't have World Adventures. I have and still play Sims 2 Pets for the Gameboy. I lost the code for my Sims 2 CD, so I can't play it anymore.

I probably miss the little things that shot fire and the alien pregnancies the most. I never played one family long enough to notice that no aged. XD I'd make a new family every other day.

I remember the first sim I made in The Sims 2 CAS.  She was a red head and did that shrug/snuggle thing they did when you changed their clothes, like they found the clothes really comfy!  I thought she was the single most adoreable thing in the world.  I was delighted.  And I loved the furniture!  I squee'd when I saw the Morroccan set! 

And then much, much I started to see user icons on boards and things that were people's simselves from The Sims 3... and was tempted... and I succumbed!  *Gazes lovingly at the Sims 2 game and EP boxes on the shelf....*

Yeah, I miss the proper vacation for TS2, you know, where they can stay at a hotel. I'm actually contemplating uninstalling WA to leave disk space for SN and Seasons, since it's just a waste of disk space to take the Sims on vacation some RPG type of adventure. I'm sure I'll go back to TS2 at some point when the Sims franchise is no more, for memories, just like the Spice Girls. But till then, I'm back to playing TS3 again.

@jeanamariex3 I agree with you that it's a shame there's not much to do if you don't want to go adventuring in WA.  I never get bored of adventuring but it's not much of a honeymoon to get electocuted and cursed! 

I also miss, as many have said, building a little shop on the side of my house.  That was so cute.  I liked sewing up things and selling them.  I'm a crafter in real life, so it was really cool to be able to do the same things in the game as in RL.

I loved sewing!  It made a lot of sense, too, when you had to go to the store and buy even recolors of outfits you already had.  Now that almost everything is recolorable (a underappreciated feature of TS3), it loses its pragmatic value.  I still want it.

@CSquared2  I'm a nut for recolouring everything, every tiny thing, so that it all co-ordinates.  That was really the only reason I started downloading custom content in Sims 2 was to get a billion re-colours.  And then I just got addicted to CC!  But on Sims 3 I've not been tempted outside a few things from the store.   

I've just remembered that awful clown from Sims 1.  Oh, how I hated him!

@CSquared2  I'm a nut for recolouring everything, every tiny thing, so that it all co-ordinates.  That was really the only reason I started downloading custom content in Sims 2 was to get a billion re-colours.  And then I just got addicted to CC!  But on Sims 3 I've not been tempted outside a few things from the store. 

Me, too.  It wasn't convenient to have to leave the lot, but I do miss the challenge of building a wardrobe for a family that wasn't wacky diving suits.  Sometimes, though, I just left them in whatever they grew up in.  There are better things to spend money on!  lol

Free Time was my least favorite expansion, because it seemed to be just spamming on hobbies and interests, and you had to do whatever it took to keep your interests alive. 

I kind of miss the closed neighborhood. Open is great, yes, and it does sound really silly, but I feel like there was more imagination with the closed neighborhood, and I could play multiple households, my own, or premade, and nothing happened to them. I also miss the Social Bunny Terribly. I hope TS4 goes back to some of the TS2 elements, but without completely stepping back. Maybe they could give us an option between the two? In real life, I think more people I know that play Sims choose closed over open.

@jeanamariex3 It blew my mind to have an open neighbourhood!  But, I do know what you mean.  It's frustrating when you have an eye on a Sim, and the little thing ages up or moves away.

My fondest memories of the Sims 2 was playing the Curious brothers. They were literally the only pre-made family I played, and I would play them for hours. Those male pregnancies made me laugh when I was 8 and still does now. But sadly, I uninstalled it so I could have extra space.
