It's more a babble thread than discussing how to work your games. I think the change is appropriate.

I actually meant about how strict this forum is. I had a help question about Medieval locked a few days ago. I wasn't mad at all, but a little surprised (I was told the reason).
The outside is quiet, but the inside is on full blast.

Discussing The Sims, or any expansion or series would be classed as a General Discussion to me. But I don't mind, I understand why, Ricalynn.

Twinmum - I did love the small homes! They had so much character in them, and so much potential to be added on to when you get more money.

I remember those houses! I loved the Sims 2 houses, they were amazing. I recently reinstalled Sims Life Stories on my laptop, I'm just playing around with it at the moment to see if I want to keep it or reinstall the rest of them.

Oh I forgot I had Life Stories! That was the cutest game ever. I might play that when I feel like playing TS2 now! Thanks for reminding me :D

I haven't played Life Stories, because those were meant for less memory laptops, and I'm on a desktop. I thought about just waiting for them to go to the 5 dollar bins at Walmart.

Remember when Don Lothario would always run away from the alter? That was priceless! I get them married and pretend their the modern day, Thornton and Morgana Wolff. ;D

I also miss Riverblossom Hills, with the Roth Family. I hated Sandra with her fake tan, so I always break her and Jacob up, in fact, I had him cheat on Sandra for his ex, Jules right in front of her! I get him back with his ex all the time.

Strangetown...I miss Strangetown. I never understood why I only played and loved that town. Then one day the entire town disappeared from my game. No matter how much I tried to reinstall it would never come back.

I asked Carl about this thread the day it was started because, technically, it's not about Sims 3 and I didn't know if it should be allowed.  He said that because it's also comparing Sims 1 and 2 to Sims 3, it's ok for it to stay.  However, if it were discussing something specific to game play issues with Sims 1 and 2 and never even mentioned Sims 3, it would be a different story.

What I would like for everyone to understand is that we're not trying to be strict for strictness' sake.  This Forum is a Sims 3 forum.  It's not a Sims 2 or a Medieval forum.  It's here to discuss Sims 3 only.  While Sims 2 and Medieval were made by the same company, they are different games and not related to Sims 3 in any way.  It would be like allowing a topic for Rift or Diablo 3.  Those games aren't Sims 3 and don't belong here.

I just want everyone to understand that we must have a place to draw the line, and the line is drawn at Sims 3.  Now that we have the new Babble Board, I agree that this topic belongs there.  If anyone would like to discuss any of this further, you're welcome to send me a private message so that we don't keep this thread off topic.  :)

Thanks for letting us know, Pam. I love the new Babble Board!

That's stange, that you can't take screenshots though. Kind of a let down now, I didn't even notice though lol. I'm definitely going to install it later still! I really miss that game.

Two things I miss from Sims 2: How quick it was to cook a full meal, and how it was served. I miss the little timer that went off seconds after you put the food on the stove, it was wonderful how fast it was! Now, it's so much slower and you have to start cooking at five if you want to eat by seven. And the serve meal interaction was cool too, how it lined up all the plates on the table.

Also, I miss speed 3 from Sims 2, the entire night would go by in less than a minute! It was awesome. Speed 3 in Sims 3 is like Speed 2 in Sims 2, which is funny, because numbers.

Does anyone else remember when Sims would actually pull bowls and pans out of the cupboards instead of them magically appearing?

One thing I loved in the Sims 1 was that you could get ducks to come to your pond if you planted reeds there. If you put in a lily pad, you might get a frog.

I remember the bowls and pans part.  I was playing sims2 the other day and noticed so much detail the 2 game, that should have been incorporated into sims3.  I still like when the sims sit around the table after they eat and talk for what seems like hours.  Also, they stay put in sims2, until you tell them to do something else.  Sometimes in sims3 they do, but they really have  a mind of their own, lol.

DeNile - I do hate the cooking times in TS3 as well, it takes ages to make a meal.

I also do miss when they pulled out bowls and pans. I was going to mention that earlier but I didn't know if I made that up or not lol, I guess I didn't! It was such a nice touch to the game though. :)

Saltypaws - TS2 had so many little details. When EA were creating TS3 they added a lot, but I feel they missed some of the little details that made the game have so much character. But that's just me!

Oh, yes, socializing while eating, while adding to the length of the meal, was actually reasonable and sims did it.  In TS3 they spend an hour making a meal, ten minutes consuming it and one sim might get one comment in before everyone is done.

I've been playing The Sims since the TS1 days.  It seems to me that Charm was highest in TS1 and declined with each subsequent iteration.  On the other hand, Usability is highest in TS3 and was lower in each previous iteration.  I guess that means that the sweet spot -- the place where there's the best balance of Charm vs. Usability -- is The Sims 2.

Totally agree with you there! I've only been playing since TS2, though :)
