Haha I was 16 i believe when I first heard of The Sims 1. I've killed sims in all of the games.

Hahaha! I think I was about 10 when I heard of The Sims 1. I was horrible at it. All my sims died of starvation!

One of my very first sim couple electrocuted herself while changing a light bulb and standing in a puddle of her own urine.  I am really glad changing light bulbs never made it past Sims 1.

My first four sim children were also all removed for a variety of reasons relating to me not knowing how to care for them.

My first sim family died of starvation. I left the game on overnight, and they were famished, filthy, parched, restless sims who stood in urine puddles, eventually dying of starvation.

You could change lightbulbs in TS1? I've had that game for about 6 years and never knew that!

Yup.  I'm surprised you haven't encountered it.  They'd blow out on their own and require changing, just like any other broken object.

I loved sims2 and did buy all the expansions and stuff packs, but I just can't play it anymore! The sims look kind of weird to me. I've give all my copies away lol. But I miss bathing babies and toddlers! And toddlers have more personality also. They could ask for attention and for food, I miss that. But I would not trade sim3 for sims2 ever.

I remember the ballet and the broken cars in TS2 Freetime, cheating to get a million servos in TS1, I only ever had the deluxe edition. I remember saving up my money when I was twelve to buy the three expansions for TS2 I didn't own, then realizing I didn't have enough money and conning my mother's boyfriend out of the rest of it. I remember the first time my Sim froze to death, how annoying the pets were, the fact that my life goal was to make a werewolf, my love of plant sims... I remember my old computer taking twenty minutes to load a town, and another twenty to load the house. Then the three storey townhouse that was prebuilt, that was my favourite house in the Sims. I remember never being able to keep the sims happy...

Mostly, I remember the fact that I own three copies of Seasons, because the first one got blown up during a thunderstorm - a short circuit cut the disc clean in two, and I still own the pieces. The second one was lost in an old computer and was thrown out before we could get the disk back. And the third one is still okay, and I plan to keep it that way. So I own three Disk Two's, and one working Disk One. :D

I remember begging my mother for the game, then realizing she'd bought it for me as a gift and taking back everything I said about it. XD

I also remember spending hours playing it with my friend Ian, back when we thought Sims 1 was the coolest thing ever.

I love my Sims 2!
I have all EP's and SP's and still play it!
While there are similarities in the Sims2 and Sims3 games, I think of Sims2 as a totally different type of game.
I always play Strangetown. I so love the Curious Brothers and their alien offspring.  :-* I have played vanilla and with cheats. I have it installed and play it when S3 starts to get too annoying. Crashes and such.
I also love S3. I like that the sims have the ability to "live" their own lives without me telling them to do everything.  ;D
I never played Sims 1. My D-I-L has most of the EP's and has offered to give them to me but, I don't think I would really enjoy it. :-[

I've been debating for the last few weeks whether to install the Sims 2. My sister lent me her copy but I can't work out if I'll get frustrated with it as my main memories of Sims 2 are really long load times and pregnant sims being impossible to keep in a good mood. Then again I played it for a few hours about four years ago, so it's not like I ever had chance to like it. After reading this thread, maybe I will install it!

I've been thinking about doing this, too. I've installed and played with The Sims (1) last year but I can't say I've enjoyed it. It was far too primitive to me. I think I have the first game (the complete collection) installed somewhere on this computer but I rarely play it nowadays. I've also installed and played The Sims Life Stories; even finished Riley's story. It was great fun and I was reminded of quite a few things I forgot about Sims 2. It was a pleasant experience and might reassure me that it is indeed worthy to install Sims 2. I'll wait a bit, though, till my new computer arrives. We'll see how it turns out.

I remember playing my sisters sims2 game for a few weeks years ago when I was in school. I don't think I played it for long enough to remember a lot of the detail, because I got so upset when one of my first sims died in a fire. I don't think I even knew they could die!  ::)
I suppose it must have left some kind of impression though, since I was inspired to buy sims 3 years later!

When I got sims 3, my husband wanted to throw out my sims 2 discs. I said NOT ON YOUR LIFE! He got the message!

I also really miss the Strangetown families! I wish we could have a Strangetown in a future pack or Sims 4!

I bought my daughter the Sims 2 deluxe and she absolutly loves playing on it. I had a go but despite the fact that I totally loved it I just don't enjoy it the way I used to. I almost wish I hadn't played it again because it was so different to the way I remembered it.

I miss being able to bathe toddlers, as well as the changing table.  It made the nursery look so much more complete. In Sims 2, children used to run to hug their parents when they got home from work. I wish that was brought back.  It was so cute.

I also really miss Seasons and Open for Business.  I loved owning flower shops and bakeries.  I miss a lot from Free Time, too. I think some of the activities from that EP would be great for the Sims 3, like having old cars to work on to improve handiness.  I really loved the sewing table and pottery wheel, as well.  And basketball.

From the Sims 1, what I miss most is the canning station, the bread oven, and the butter churn.  With all the fruits Sims can grow, it would be great if they could turn them into jams.  And I miss the roller coasters from Magic Town! Those were one of the main reasons I sent my Sims there.

Haha...now I really want to install and play the Sims 1 and 2.
