Reminiscing - The Sims and The Sims 2
« on: April 14, 2012, 04:41:45 PM »
I've always been interested in what people miss about the past Sims games.

I miss that baby changing station, bathing babies in the sink, the gardening club, marco polo and lunch meat sandwiches!

What do you miss? :)

Oh my god, I miss everything. The nostalgic charm and everything..even the horrible graphics.

Cool! This may sound weird, but The Sims and The Sims 2 had so much more Character to them than The Sims 3 does.

I loved all the stories as well, especially the Dreamer's and Goth's!

I miss babies coming with their own bassinet!  I also miss how easy it was to go in and just build a house.  Now the game automatically assumes you're playing the game to actually play with the people.

Not that I miss it, but do you remember the Newbies house?  That big octagon (hexagon?) house was strange.

And the Monty-Capp legacy! Plus the Newbies! :D

Sims 3 is a bit mundane, and the sims look kinda creepy, realistisc looking. I hated how they brought back several old Sims and Sims2 figures with Sims 3 and remade them, they didn't do so well.

Babies were given so much more attention in the sequel than the prequel.

I miss dining out, where you can see them eat together. And, slow dancing!

One thing I will never miss were those frequent loading screens. I mean, if your sim crossed the street, BLAYUM! Loading Screen!

I miss the changing tables and bathing babies too. I also miss the wolf pack and how pets could have jobs.

mandamouse123 - I remember those basket things, they were so cute! And the Newbie house yes I do! It was very... interesting. But it did have character!

KirbyAndKat - Yeah that Shakespeare thing was genius! And the Sims do look really creepy, like real but Waxy, lol.

MoMoll - Slow dancing was awesome, so sweet! And when you went on dates, and bowling!

Bowling! I also loved that! I think my Sims were in the bowling alley more than any place else.

As just mentioned on another topic, I miss the yoga sims could do.  I also miss bathing babies.  Everything about babies in Sims 2 was better, except that you couldn't see their motives, though some would argue that was better since it was more realistic.  I really, really liked how genetics in Sims 2 made a lot more sense.  There was no random variation like you see in Sims 3.  A little variation is nice, but I think there's too much.  Not every baby should be a mutant.   :P  I miss having a gardener, but I don't miss having to water flowers.  I miss aliens.  It's a shame those haven't returned so far.  I really liked sewing in Sims 2 also.  Since you don't have to purchase every outfit in Sims 3, it wouldn't be the same, but it would be nice to have anyway.  I also kind of miss the aging in Sims 2.  In Sims 3, it's hard not to have your sim live forever.  You have to actively avoid certain things.  In TS2 it was easier for me to play generation after generation because of this.  Although I was a teenager when I played Sims 1, I hardly remember it now.  The one thing I remember is that it was actually really challenging to achieve what you wanted.  You couldn't walk right up to another sim's home if you wanted your sim to meet them so they could eventually get married.  You had to get lucky with a walk-by.  Sometimes it seems that, while time-consuming or intensive, it's not really challenging to achieve in TS3.

And the Magazines you could buy. As well as buying phones, MP3 players and Gameboy things from that blue thing.

And come to think of it, Grocery Stores, with the freezers! And coffee stalls!
