I would love for my Sim to specialize in the science/medical field. What is the best career for this? Merci :D

You could either work in the Medical career or the Science Career.
Pretty straightforward.
The Medical career requires the Logic skill. It pays really good money.
The Science career requires the gardening, fishing and handiness skills.
Science might sound like a handful, but it isn't really. If you want to learn just one major skill Medical would be great, but if you want to spent a lot more time with your sim, science is better off!  :)

Also be aware that the medical branch will require you to work long hours and then be on call for emergencies. My sim who was a doctor never got a lot of sleep.

The Fishing Skill is not a requirement until about Level 6 and even then you don't have to max it for your Career I don't believe?

I think you actually have to max it. But maybe that's when you are already level 10 in the science career and you want to have outstanding in everything required for the career?

You don't have to max it, there is a thread somewhere else with a discussion on if you have to max a skill to reach the top of a career. I've done it without maxing fishing out. Gardening and Handiness are more important but as long as you have a high level of fishing and good relationships with your boss/co-workers you can reach the top without maxing fishing.

Now I'm happy to hear that, so the next time I create a scientist, I wouldn't have to bother about fishing. Thanks for that.  :)

I haven't ever played the Science career because of the fishing skill. I guess I was putting it off for no reason.

Haha! Now that I've heard that you don't need to max fishing, it will appeal to me more!  :D

The only time I make my sims learn how to fish is if they are either children who would do the Scouting class at school, or just the adults who are loners... :/

Exactly the same as me! Young scouts get to level 3 and that's it. I'm going to try and play the Science Career I think next time I start a new family.

Yes, the science career is quite rewarding at the end. There's also a chance to get seeds from work when you are above the level requirement.
